Acid Reflux

hats even indoors to stop the glare. It used to feel silly, but in the movies, all the card dealers wear caps
Blue & green wavelengths seem the crucial problem, rather than the glare, so me reducing brightness may not be doing anything. So I've tried to look for apps that reduce those wavelengths better than night shift mode, but it seemed too complicated. Anyway part of it is not being tempted to look into anything that might trigger my brain chatter...

oh yeah !!!! that I do get totally. When I watch movies, that's when physically flattened (arms/hands useless) it helps to keep the brain occupied, so I go for the simple movies, nothing that challenges the brain too much :)

That's also why I ask daughter instead of trying to figure things like that myself. Not that I can't, but it kills brain power rapidly

For me it's the emotional challenge that's more taxing, even nature documentaries.

Similar there. Often, talking to people is more difficult than doing things myself. To challenge but not kill brain power I put things aside and continue later, split into baby steps. Occasionally asking the kids for simple things can be OK, but always comes with baggage.

Fun how different we all are! 🤠

Indeed !! I cannot watch pretty much anything like that, yes, I think it's the emotional more than intricate movies (not sure the name).

I tend more towards rom coms, even many so-called children's movies, too harsh for me now.

With the kids, no baggage, lucky there. Daughter really good, and if beyond her, I cringe when she says "you need to ask brother". He's excellent with IT, but is very short and direct, intense would be an accurate description. He's recently been diagnosed ADHD/Autism. Explains a lot

We have wandered off Acid Reflux topic, haven't we? Speaking of which, I ate 70/30 or so cashew & almond/walnut. Did not burn mouth, and no reflux. ;) Thanks for the tip 🤗

Yeah, and what's a movie, simple or not, without emotion... and the emotion is what gets us out of our world and distracts, which is usually intended, but all too much for me now, even rom-coms (had to look that up, my mind got confused with CD-ROMs 😊).

I very much get (know) it... As ever a diagnosis can help understand and tolerate....
But my wife wanted to watch an episode of Sean the Sheep with me a few months ago, wasn't familiar - despite "diagnosing" him quickly as having ADHD, it overwhelmed me.
Tried again, S1E3, and got as far as Sean almost falling when I started hurting/Aching - too much excitement, too much empathy. :ROFLMAO:

No problem here, but I'm always game to look for the connections & how we got there:
Hyperacidity & hyperactivity & overexcitement (via our kids, films & light wavelengths) vs. good sleep. - Reflux often at night, so calming stomach, brain & heart helps...

Great. Healthy stuff. I've tried smuggling a quarter of half a walnut past the sorest part of my tongue (usually left side) for their healthiness - tricky, and seldom works.

Have you tried blanching them, get rid of the skin? Might be worth a shot if you haven't tried it. I know I find the darker the skin, the more bitter they are.

Rom Coms, yes , it took me ages to figure it out myself, I should have said romantic comedies. Simple ones, like You've Got Mail, and the old Hello Dolly. Yours, Mine and Ours is good too. I'm finding lots of good ones coming out of Canada, but the music, why they need to drown dialogue, I'll never know. Back to the silent movies days

Is that the UK Shaun the Sheep? I've not found that triggering, we are all different , aren't we?

When I have alcohol, I take pepcid ac 20 mg as an over the counter med because it is also an h2 inhibitor, and I have other mast cell flares and histamine sensitivity. I don’t know how much it helps overall, but I don’t want to take the omeprazole that was prescribed to make my stomach less acidic and disrupt my digestion further. I take 2 apple cider vinegar tablets with a flare and it helps very fast. The malic acid in apple cider vinegar tightens up the closure membrane of the stomach. I wish i had capsules instead of tablets, though. The tablets scratch my throat and smell.

Thanks for that idea, maybe I'll try just a speck without skin to see if it's worth it.
Tried 4 specks (= 10%) without skin and it seemed to start burning again.
But I'm now just trying that much regularly...

Ooh, some of my fave rock groups come from there. -
Maybe the music is better than the words? :D

Yep - whoops, called Shaun in Germany too, thought I'd looked it up.
It'd seem I overreact to almost everything now, after the jabs triggered my mast cells.
But not to hard, fast music that'd get on everyone else's nerves... 🤷‍♂️

Interesting to hear that you also have mast cell issues, is that MCAS like me, or SM?
Yeah, your suggestion to use apple cider and vinegar would fit to hypoacidic stomach, for me with hyperacid it'd flare.
As I have empty capsules anyway, I'd put the tablets in a capsule like I do everything acidic, like amino acids, cos it hurts my throat, vitamin C I need to take in the (sodium) ascorbate form. But not everyone has tons of capsules flying around, in that case maybe with something semi-liquid like yogurt, or at least something like almond milk rather than water?
