ok, I dont know what the heck the problem is this time, but this constant "message awaiting moderator approval" nonsense is getting ridiculous
Seems like every other time i try to post something, it comes up needing moderator approval.. for what?????????

i get that certain words or initials get flagged, but seriously... this is getting ridiculous.
I have no idea what got this post flagged, but it did get flagged..

I think it would be very useful to have a list of flagged words somewhere that users can look at and see what the problem might be. Because as it is right now, I dont even want to post anymore with the constant flagging.. As far as I can tell, there is NOTHING in the above post that should have been flagged. If the word "google" is what is being flagged, well, that is just plain dumb - it is a part of normal, everyday life... Get over it If it is something else, I would seriously like to know what it is.

There's a few different systems being used as "anti-spam" systems. For the most part they work really well, but like all systems, there's flaws. I'd remove those systems but they actually catch 100's of spam messages per month and saves a lot of time with moderation, so, all in all, the pain is worth the gain from my perspective.

Sorry you got caught up in it, I admit it must be frustrating, but fortunately, usually, they work really well and as designed.

if there is a registration system on the forum ie that requires an email response and a not a robot system then very little spam should get thro - I run a number of forums and any one that wants to join needs first to fill out a registration form which includes a I am not a robot then they need to reply to the email sent to them to finalise the registration - basically very little spam if any gets thro

@cookiebaker . Please don't take these things personally. They are not personal, as Dooi has explained. Even despite the systems that we have in place, a lot of spam gets through and we have to take the time to deal with it. This forum is set up the way it is set up and that is not easy to change. Please, people, just roll with it. Remember it is not personal, and that any time that one of the moderators sees your post in the approval queue it will be approved as quickly as it is seen. Since this is an international forum and we are on different times, there may be times when that takes hours from your perspective, but it will always be done asap from us. It is my hope that there is enough good on this forum to make up for a little imperfection in how things operate in the computer system.

It has been a lot better in the last months. Basically now just remains "go ogle" 95% of the time, like in that quote of the OP. Sometimes the catch is if we didn't remember to bungle that up if it's in something we quote.

sure, dont take it personally, but it seems like every other post needs moderator approval.. and from where I sit, it is VERY difficult to discern WHAT the problem is... its like why even bother :cautious:
Like i said before... a list of "banned" words somewhere would be tremendously helpful. At least then I would have a clue to what I said wrong. but to constantly be put on mod approval with no clue as to why?? just frustrating. I dont need more frustration in my life, there is enough as it is.

I just replied to you and others without checking. It went into the queue. So I checked for "go..ogle" and in one of the quotes you'd written "go..gle docs". So I re-posted bungling that word, went a treat. And deleted the queued post before. I was just gonna say maybe it's still not mainly that one word. But that seems to confirm it is. Why is another matter....

Yeah, things work similarly here. It's not so much registration spam that gets through, as second/third post spam. All in all, everything is a pretty smooth sailing ship here thanks to all the hard work from Xenforo, and the different anti-spam systems in place.

The issue with the phrase "google" was specifically put in by me for a very good reason. We used to get a lot of people trying to circumvent the request "not to post non-authoritative" by simply telling people in their post to "google such and such product".

Please don't let yourself get frustrated by it. Simply wait for moderator approval; we're usually pretty quick about it.

There's really no need to use the word in question. Just say "search engine" or, to make it shorter, just say "search", which has the same number of letters as the word that will pop your post into the approval queue, and everyone will know you mean "search online using a search engine". That avoids the word nicely.

my use of the G word had nothing to do with the search function - it was in reference to other items related to G
IE: "G" is much more than just a search engine.
The use of that word being a "problem" is ridiculous.. Who cares if someone says just "G" it... I do not understand why that is such a problem.
it is common vernacular.

What is the difference here...
Go search for XXXX
or
Go goo....gle XXXX

there is NO difference whatsoever - means the exact same thing, so having that word be a problem is ridiculous

And at this point, I am just so over it..
Have a great life ya'll...

I can't understand getting so upset and angry about something so trivial. Hope you change your mind @cookiebaker, you are a valued member of the community.

I am also very puzzled that someone would take such offense and get so profoundly disturbed over something so insignificant. However, I wish @cookiebaker well and farewell.

Using the search engine name g 👀 gle has put me in moderation queue a few times cookie (it does feel a bit like you've done something wrong being in it but like sunkacola said it's not personal ) some other things have put me in there too (can't remember what) but it wasn't anything I felt should have put me in it? I do hope a lot it won't make you leave the forum, you've been a good participant for a nice bit now and we like you on here 💖🍫🤗
