How are you today?

This is such a good idea dor a thread, the difference of someone asking how you are and genuinely caring about the answer rather than it just being a throw away question to be polite.
Im doing pretty well mentally, had some success on the specialist front, the major feat of having a specialist agree to take you on as a patient - the fact that is an achievement is a topic for another time because it really shouldnt be such a major achievement.
Body wise, im not great but im not the worst ive been so thats something, trying to hold on to even the tiniest glimmers of hope and good things

Thank you @johnsalmon (I was wondering this also, I assumed that it was hypnotherapy) 😉 🌟

I'm glad to hear things are ok for you at the moment hope23, (i have been wondering how things are coming along for you after our previous posts) Yes I started this thread because we can talk about how we are sometimes on different threads at different times, (and there's sooooooooo many choices of different threads) but I decided to make this one so it can be a constant one to go to , where we can talk about our fibro/how we're feeling/things good and bad that are happening (if anybody wanted to chat about it) but yeah, the thread is growing and blooming quite nicely 😊🌸🪻🌼🚿

It can be tricky when family, friends and other non sufferers ask. We may feel quite awkward and feel worse having not expressed ourselves. It's good when family and friends are supportive but it's not the same as one who knows what it's like. One good friend of mine suffers chronic pain amongst other things and has been a great support although I have a lifetime habit of bottling things up. @hope23 It's wonderful to hear that your wellbeing is good despite feeling rough physically. Hopefully an early night for me, feeling it today with a hangover.

before May
did you get an earlier appointment?
I am going to go to Bunnings today so that will be painful but the plant shopping will perk me up 🌷🌴🌳🌵
Okay, im a "plant lady" if there is such a thing. Did you pick out any? Do share. Jay and i were comparing notes on plants. He is experiencing more success than I am. Heres a few snapshots of some of our favorites.

I've been having some trouble with my legs for the last week - quite stiff and achy - the cold weather isn't helping either.
I have been having restless leg issues for the past week. So hard to sleep! How you feeling now?

If I recall you were being put through the wringer by the medical community making assumptions about your motivations 😡. That's quite a positive breakthrough to get one person to take you seriously!

That is such an apt description, i have lost count of the test referrals an everything in between, my GP has always been fantastic which can be a major feat on its own. Watching the rheumatologist click through all the tests and referrals on my file was eye opening, her statement was 'well your doctor has been looking for something for a long time and hasnt stopped'
From every referral to specialist its either been a piss poor exam and appt or the blanket line of 'your not sick ENOUGH', or the ordering of tests to stop the repetitive referrals from my gp, in other words to just shut us up and make us go away.
Dont get me wrong there are so many far sicker than i am that need care, but actually that doesnt mean im not really sick, its just means im not at risk of dying(that we know of).
On a side note one of my ankles is very munted, theres basically no ligaments left so the only thing holding it together is some badly abused tendons and scar tissue, finally made the choice to get it operated on, id put it off for so long because of what the aftermath of that surgery would be on my body as well as the uncertainty on what medications i might need to stop in order to have the surgery. The rheumatologist did go through all my meds though and is comfortable that i wont need to stop any in order to have the surgery.

What exactly is restless leg issues?

I find my problem with sleep is just general restlessness and constantly moving readjusting because nothing is comfortable, either that or limbs/muscles twitching/spasming. I know when i am sharing a bed with someone its not uncommon for me to kick out my legs or bend my body into the most awkward looking position because it relieves the worst spot for a bit. Human pretzel is a fairly good description

kind of like with fibro, they are not 100% sure of what causes it.. plenty of theories abound.

could be a vitamin/mineral deficiency, could be an imbalance of dopamine, could be genetics...
from doing a quick search, iron deficiency is a very common reason for it, and Vit D is not far behind.. there could be others as well...
I would ask your doctor to do some checking (lab work) to verify any deficiencies before starting any kind of supplementation as it is possible to cause harm with some if they are not needed (iron especially)
