I have a really annoying problem every time i start writting a post i make so many spelling mistakes i delete the whole post. Im finding it to hard to complete what i wanted to say. Today i forgot my phone number. Also tried to use something i use often i thought it was broken but i was switching it on and off by accident. It was another button i should have been pressing. Not the off button.

Ah, @Grace3 , I am sorry to hear you are having these issues. The one thing I can think of that might help is that I have had issues like that as well, but it did not last. It always seems, for me, as if that kind of thing comes and goes. I will have a week of it or so and then it stops. Maybe yours has gone on longer than that, but I am hoping that yours will turn out to be something that comes and goes like mine.

As for spelling mistakes in a post, there are a couple things you can do. One is just use spell check and let the computer correct them for you. The other is leave them in the post and just let us know that we have to figure it out ourselves! Everyone here will understand if you have misspelled words in your posts. It's really not a big deal.

I would rather hear from you with misspellings than have you think you shouldn't post here at all! And I bet that everyone else here will feel the same way. :)

@Grace3 I too have episodes of this - also verbal mistakes, where I lose the thread of what I am trying to say and every day I just cannot find a word I am searching for.
I have found like @sunkacola these episodes do seem to come and go. Generally when I am extra stressed or in a bad flare. I also went through a time where I couldn't remember how to do things? I ended up putting note on the washing machine telling me how to use it,messing up my meds regime, or notes to remind me where I had put things. My worse one was literally forgetting how to brush my teeth.

It helped me to write down notes like that, and used a sectioned pill dispenser.. I felt a bit of an idiot doing so until I realised theses things actually helped me feel less stressed. So yes, it comes and goes, but 'losing words' in verbal speech is daily for me. Oh, and plenty of my posts, even to this day, are littered with spelling mistakes! Definitely do not worry about that side of things, post whenever you need. Anyone will get the gist of what you are writing.

She so glad Iv read your post about forgiveness. One of mine is wondering wether I have put conditioner on my hair or wether I have rinsed it out hence I have to start all over again. Thanks Nan

Here's a solution:
Start with the shampoo and conditioner in one place...the "start place" in your shower, wherever you decide that to be.
After using, move it to the other place, the "done" place.

You will know just to look if you have done the conditioner or not because if you have, both shampoo and conditioner will be in the same place or on the same side of the tub or whatever. If they are separate, you know you haven't done the conditioner yet.

Good evening everyone. Been a while for me but I read the posts almost every day. Today as we are sitting together, I handed my husband my phone to read these posts discribing me exactly what Im going thru. Now he will understand more of how Im doing these days. Im hoping tomorrow will be a better day, and you all as well. Keep busy is my wsy of coping. Hahaha just looking at my spelling too, and no Im not fixing it right now.
Happy New Year to everyone, make every day special .

Dear Grace, what a great thread !!! 🤗 🤗 🤗

You will certainly see you are in great company here :D I can relate to pretty much the lot.

Throw in, sometimes I turn the water off, and then can't remember if I had actually had a shower, or just turned the water on and off, so shower again. Same with hair wash now and then.

I try (try) to have set places for things like handbag, keys, mobile phone (they get a bit mobile sometimes and do a runner). Also, I try to always keep my purse and things like hankies etc, all the things that should be in my handbag when I head out, in the bag! The one I have has several compartments, one perfect for diary and shopping list, and other for wallet/purse, and another for the phone.

Excellent for travel, a quick brush of the bag and I know if the wallet and phone are there , and the pockets are zipped, it helps so much.

Lists. I do the daily 5 things for the day, which seem to take a week at times, but I am believing I need to do more. Yes, I put the washing on and remember a day or two later, and that means a re-wash, but usually it's out by the end of the day, mostly.

Forgetfulness. The worst is finding oneself standing in a room with absolutely no idea why there, or if it was even the intended destination. I can lose most of a day doing that. I know I should just binge jigsaws or movies on those days, but sometimes, just "have to do things" which don't get done anyway

And yes, lots of corrections here, now and then i leave them go, but i tried today. hands are saying forget caps, extra keystrokes lol :D:D:D

Yep, I'm a fully paid-up member of the 'Forgetfulness Gang' & it's such a comfort to hear from other gang members as I was not connecting it to Fibro but suspecting I could have what I would consider much worse conditions eg Dementia etc.

I manage to get through life thanks to lists ie daily lists written the night before of what day/date the next day is, where I am planning to go
& what I need to do - lists are metaphorically my life jacket as I Doggie Paddle in turbulent waters.

However, my main worry is that I lose/misplace the list which I often do lol.

Having said all that, I keep on keeping on and try to maintain the attitude of 'What's life without a challenge!'

Plus, it personally helps me to maintain a positive perspective, as well as an attitude of gratitude for all my blessings,
to continuously remind myself that there are literally millions of poor souls out there who are suffering much greater afflictions than mine.

Wishing you all the happiest & healthiest 2025 you can achieve & awareness of your many blessings with more to come x

@Rainbow

I once asked a counsellor (pre diagnosis) if I had dementia, or schizophrenia or something. It didn't help that my then hubby picked on everything and I lived with "why haven't you", "why did you" etc. Well, I had no idea.

Anyway, she said to me "do you want to have dementia?". Hmm. I was not ticking the boxes.

Then I saw a program called You Can't Ask That, and it was on dementia. They had about eight or more people with dementia and asked heaps of questions . I saw such a likeness of what I faced, but one difference. Dementia gradually gets worse. Fibro switches on and off.

A teacher in about fourth form, around 16 year olds, told us to use lists and notes and to put full dates on everything, emphasising the year. I didn't know how helpful those habits would be decades later. I have always been a list person though, mum was to a fair degree also

Rainbow, have you thought of keeping the list attached to the calendar, or on the 'fridge? Or dual copy with the name of the other place on it. ?

I am lost when i don't make a list for the next day.

Hail my fellow List Person!

Thank you for the clever where-to-put-the-list suggestions.

My home is a small one-bedroom flat & I live in my bedroom, even when i'm not hosting any family members, as they tend to turn up
when least expected & sometimes with very little, if any, warning, so I find keeping to my own space all the time the simplest solution.
Plus, as a bonus, it keeps the heating etc costs down.

Truth be told I've always been more comfortable in reasonably small spaces.
So much so, I've always had a hankering to live in a mobile home on a cliff top over-looking the sea,
preferably on the East Yorkshire coast & specifically in the vicinity of Whitby, which is my Soul Home.

In fact, I've left instructions with my Nearest & Dearest that I am to be cremated & they are to take my ashes to Whitby Abbey
& surreptitiously scatter me 'The Great Escape' style within it's walls.
Though I dare say they'll forget or won't have time or won't bother but I'll make a point of haunting them if they don't.
MUST remember to tell them that last bit but I know I likely won't.

Sorry I wandered off there but I tend to do that - returning to the 'Forgetfulness' theme...
I have a small desk in the corner of my room (bedroom) from where I 'run my life' so to speak
& so I know where any paperwork I'm looking for is usually to be found, usually.

Though I have been known to find it in the kitchen - in the fridge to be precise.

Ok, that only happened once but one needs to remain alert for these ever-possible glitches in the fabric of One's Personal Universe
- I strongly suspect mine is a Moth-Eaten Patchwork Quilt.

Rainbow - Monday 6 January 2025.
ps I've done that to keep a grip on who I am & what timeline I'm on because post-Christmas is always even more of a blur than usual.
Usually.
