Noise Noise and more noise! ahhhhhh!

IM GOING CRAZY WITH NOISE. MY HUSBAND IS DEAF AND OUR HOUSE IS NOT ACCOMADATED FOR A PLACE TO RETRIEVE.
THE TV IS ON CONSTANTLY
I THINK IM GOING TO HAVE TO BUY HIM SOME HEADPHONES TO WEAR FOR THE TV. WIRELESS. OR IM GOINGTO BE FORCEDTO SPEND UP TO 300.00 FOR A GOOD PAIR OF NOISEPROOF HEADPHONES. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS??? I dont work so I feel guilty spending money unless its for a special occasion, or household needs.
THE RINGING IN MY EARS GETS WORSE TOO. I WONDER IF SOMETHING LIKE THIS WOULD BE COVERED THROUGH MY INSURANCE.

ANY OTHER IDEAS OUT THERE?

I feel you! My mom also has hearing loss and now that she is at home, watching TV from 10am-10pm, the loudness really gets to me too. I also live next to a construction site, some days both TV noise combined with the hammering/machine noises next door, it drives me crazy. Then on days when I have a headache...ahhhh.....

I have these silicon ear plugs that I put on, close all doors/windows in my bedroom and lay in bed listening to my heartbeat. And wait till I can go back to taking it again. So that is the cheapest option - to buy earplugs for yourself and to find a quiet place in or out of the house you can escape to. You can maybe also use them all around the house, the right ones only block out the loud noises, so you still hear things, but the 'annoying' edge is gone.

We had tried those TV headphones many years ago when my dad was going deaf, but those annoyed the hell out of him, but I suppose the technology now is much better, with better options, quality. I wish with these expensive purchases, you'd have a trial period. What if they do not give you the quiet that you need (your husband might get annoyed using them or simply refuse to use them - there goes your money). So maybe a 2nd hand one to start off with? Second note: maybe not. Or one that is not all that expensive?

I feel your pain moe. Noise drives me crazy most of the time too. My dad is deaf too (I don't live with him though) and my mum bought him Wireless headphones which have been a godsend. I can't comment on personal experience but my dad really likes them & uses them loads. I hope you find some kind of solution soon.

Well this may be Odd , but I can hear Morse Code tapping in my ears. Usually one sided. So what's up with this ? I get ringing too. But the Morse code is crazy.
I guess I should learn Morse code and figure out what I'm saying to myself.

I knew I suggest this somewhere before but you can get really cheap long rca wire and very very cheap speaker ( like dollar store or eBay cheap) then set the speaker near the location where the person sitting. Also there are head pillow speaker or many other little cheap gadgets .

If you're good at creative design then try to see if you can install the cheap speaker closer to his ear without him ever feels that it's there and will come on automatically when tv turn on .

Do not buy expensive speaker or any expensive head phone or ear buds!!

And Here is the main reason for cheap speaker or cheap head phone, is to eliminate the back ground noices from TV . The cheaper they are the less sound effects they have. Thus for producing clearer conversation noises on tv. RCA conection from tv input out put are easy to find in the back regardless of how old or new your tv is. And it won't interfear with your tv main speaker . So it just gonna be the personalizing sound enhancement for the def or hearing problem person closer to their ear. Plus no need to recharge batteries, keep changing or spending more money on batteries it self ( it can be quite expensive in the long run)

My hearing has lost from time to time (usually after super sensitive hearing and ear pains for a few days) . So when that happen I like using my ear phone on me cause I can't hear the speaking part only background noice from tv at all no that's the main reason why I had to turn up tv noise to the maximum volume. However, my ear get tender pains after using earphone for prolong period of times , it hurts very badly and giving me headache. So I use ear buds which is much more comfortable. But over time it just annoying. Since I was sitting in my recliner chair one day saw the advertisement on the gaming chair that has speaker build in behind the head rest I was like :idea::idea::idea: yes!!!!! That 's what I need!!

You can hear code? , that's interesting what did it say so far? :shock: I can hear my neighbor singing opera and playing clarinet . The problem is that they're not that good at it , and I had to listen to the same song for a whole month. They live 5 blocks away and nobody hear them where I'm at but me. Beside hearing my own pulse or my internal organ talking. The only thing I don't mind is once a long while I get to see the color of sound . That's very amusing.

I can't decipher it because I don't know Morse code Tapping sequences.
But yes , I can hear it just fine when I'm laying in bed at night. It's frustrating because you can hear the odd tapping and it's not all the same , it changes all the time.

It's like my brain is talking to me using the old telegraph message system. Dot dot, dot , dot dot dot , dot
It's wierd.

Comes to think of it , when my ear ringing on and off sometime it does once a while resembling telegram. I usually blow my squeeze my nose and blew it to make it goes away but it could get stubborn from time to times. Most of the time I just hearing clicking or popping when I swallowing my saliva ( right right now ) . I also can hear wind whopping noise in and out of my ear when I move my jaw side to side.

I have tinnitus and it can often be really loud...like an office fire bell in my head or sticking your head next to a smoke detector that's gone off...it drives me nuts...i so long to escape my own head sometimes especially when im trying to sleep and the luxury of silence is a distant memory as this started in 2009 and never stops although sometimes reduces to a more tolerable buzzing and ringing noise.

If im stressed i hear all sorts of crazy things....not morse code but like crisp packets being crumpled or recently this really strange things is when im typing ..so kind of reading as i go along ....or actually reading ...its in a constant sing song type rhythm in my head.

This has been going on for months and nothing stops it..its become part of me and happened after a horrible upset.

Our crazy brains seem to be able to do all sorts of things convincing me more that Fibro is an all encompassing neurologal disease of the central nervous system.

My hearing is also super sensitive to low external noises ..my ear drums start to rumble and vibrate if a delivery lorry ( truck) is going along the next road some distance from my house....long before i or anyone else can actually hear the vehicle properly i get this sensation.

I wouldn't like loud noise in the house and often long for complete quiet..lucky for me i live alone...but my tinnitus means its never blissfully quiet.

I hope the tips on here help you find a solution Moe to reduce the TV and radio being so loud.

I get the regular ringing sound , it starts low , goes high , then starts to fade low and goes away. Everything is always in one ear only.

My Morse code tapping is like the old west telegraph the rail road use to use between cities. And then they send messages down the line. I can hear a sequence of different taps .
Is this Fibromyalgia related ? Where would it originate from in the brain , if any one knows ?

I know tinnitus can be fibro related but im not sure about the morse code tapping sound as thats a new description to me.

Maybe if you are concerned you could ask to see a hearing specialist or neurologist.

I did speak with an ENT several years ago , and she just tried to link it with cold air in my bedroom causing a pressure difference at night. To me that would be a popping sound.
But thats not what I'm hearing.
Oh well , it must not be too serious , I hope.
I was just curious if anyone else get this ?

Glenda , when you referring to code I was thinking military tapping on just about any surface they could find ( like in the movie) . In my experienced it was more of an old electronic device tapping , sometime for me can escalating to somewhat like the old recode skipping sound or transmitted radio wave clicking noise, which when I get really fusterating I used to joke about it to my bf that it's the alien sending me signals from out of space. But mind also comes with excruciating ear aching when it gets very lound .

Sometime I found relieve by putting Vick rub deep in my ear. Sometime I spray in my ear with nasal spray I used for sinus that may contain somementhol in case of ear congestion involve ( suprisingly it was a nurse who recommended it) . I also found some supplements with magnesium and calcium could help muddling the sound. Another off alternative is holding a few piece of Italian red pepper flakes in my mouth at the back of my cheeks untill I feel like the smoke coming out of my ears. All these are just what I use to blur the sharpness of the sound so I can find even just a little of relief.

The tapping I hear.
I just used old west Morse code tapping as my explination.

I have no answer for this. I just was curious if anyone else has this at night while they are awake.

It's not uncommon as you think if you look online there are a bunch of people reporting sounds like morse code in their ear. Caused by drugs , simple drugs like aspirin ( which's why I completely discard internally use of aspirin) or any other over the couter pains medications now or in the pass used.
