Hi everybody...new member here!
I was recently DX with Fibromyalgia and Allodynia after over a year of pain. It started with my skin hurting if I pulled my duvet covers across them at night. Then came the shoulder pain, arms and neck. That has been the most difficult. Now it's my hip area and front of my legs.
For years, I've been ultra-sensitive to loud noises and bright lights. Tired for as long as I can remember. My memory has turned to mush, and if I don't write things down, I completely forget.
Managing work and getting quality sleep has been difficult.
Thanks to the support of a wonderful doctor, I have started the process of trying to find the right medication therapy to help reduce the pain.
Started with Gabapentin. Added Naltrexone (in small amounts has shown to be effective in managing Fibro pain). I was still having pain and so we added Cymbalta. Within 3 days I noticed improvements, and was feeling quite encouraged. 2 weeks later, I've started another flare-up.
My doctor said he isn't able to make the pain disappear, but the hope is that it can be better managed.
I am interested to hear from other people on a similar path...and what they have found most helpful.
P.S. I was also told I might have TMJ. Need to see specialist for that now too!
