Actually it’s not a male drug at all. Tadalafil is a PDE inhibitor and works to increase blood flow. Its first use was for the treatment of angina. Curing erectile dysfunction was mostly an accidental side effect of the drug and has since been marketed as such for various reasons that I won’t get into.So females could also benefit from this 'male' drug.
I currently take 20mg/day of tadalafil for my Raynaud’s and have tried nifidepine and sildenafil as well. The tadalafil works best for me, has the least side effects. Unfortunately all of these can be hard to get at the pharmacy because it’s such a high demand drug. Also they aren’t covered by my insurance because I’m not a man and am taking it for reasons other than erectile dysfunction. The whole thing is a bit humorous in a shake-my-head kind of way.
