My feet!

Birkenstocks around the house.. I very rarely go barefooted...

I never go barefooted :( I think my feet just plain suck, if I stand up for too long they hurt so bad, shoes or no shoes, but there are some shoes that are really harsh on my feet.

Inserts? Where did you get them?! I think that would do for me...! I think I need more arch support, did you have to go to see a specialist to get those inserts? Gosh, I wish I could just wear whatever I want... I feel so frustrated because I'm supposed to look my best right now, but for several reasons (not only my touchy feet) I just can't :( It's so much pressure, we, young women (who are still unmarried) have! Now on top of that add the fact you can't wear the shoes you want. LOL, sorry, I felt like ranting a bit! Thanks for sharing your tips with me :) You rock!

Trellum, you can buy the inserts at Walmart or even drug stores. Look for ones that have arch support and cushioning for your heels. They make a huge difference.

Wow, thanks for the tip! My mom gets hers done at some special place, but I had never paid a lot attention to her inserts. I'll check the walmart ones first, thanks for the tip :)

Your mother probably has special orthodics that were made specifically for her by a podiatrist. I have those, too, but they hurt my feet....lol! They are too hard. I need something with cushion.

Ow, I had no idea there was such a huge difference between those two! I guess I better try with the Walmart ones ;) At least that way I won't end up spending too much for something that might not work for me. Thanks for the warning :)

Yup,, Walmart are really good ones that I'd experience :)
In fact I'd almost 4 pairs of Walmart shoes only which I always use them for jogging.

Sorry to be ignorant, but what's GABA? Same as Neurontin?

My feet and toes are my biggest problem too and I know what you mean about the sock thing. I couldn't wear socks for months. I can only wear one pair of shoes and even then I have discomfort. Tips on making the foot pain go away? This is where my fibro started and it's still be worst pain. Thanks!

Sadly, Bella... my toes still hurt even if I'm wearing the most comfy shoes! So getting rid of this kind of pain isn't easy :( I just bought a really nice pair of boots that feel like I'm walking on cotton, but yeah... my stupid toes aren't happy yet! I guess you could offer more support to your feet with inserts :) Not sure what to do about the toes tho... I take no pain meds :(

Ow I've bought Walmart shoes in the past, but I haven't done so recently :) I like the plastic sandals they used to make (the blue ones), I wore them at home and they were were comfy and thick. I haven't seen them anymore :( I guess they no longer make them.

First up, I am sorry for your pain! Second, sadly speaking it's a common thing happens with fibro patient. I too have fibro heel pain and for me, exercise is the only thing that breaks the pain cycle for me. It helps me getting my heart rate up on the treadmill and doing the gentle stretching exercises that the physical therapist (who treats fibro) has helped. Beside this, natural supplements like magnesium and MSM help also. I wish you get well soon!

Since we are talking about helpful brands of shoes for our poor aching feet, the ones that I like are skechers. They are well padded but lightweight. Plus add firm side support. I tried cheaper shoes, but our feet need extra padding and support, to prevent us from limping around on sore feet. Other top notch sneakers do the job as well. If you only wear sandels then spend a bit more and get some with padding. Your feet will thank you for doing so. :)

Ow! I own a pair of sketchers! They are soooooooo comfy! OMG! I bought mine for walking, and I actually walked in them for a while :) Back when I could take long walks at will ;) I'm now buying my shoes at a shoe store that is a bit expensive, but most of their shoes are really comfy :) Price doesn't really matter in the end. It seems all of their shoes have extra padding and support, and I love that! But I still wish I was one of those persons who can wear anything she wants :( Ah well, at least we can wear shoes!

I've found that pedorthists are much better than podiatrists, because they will sell you both shoes and orthotics at the same time. Often, the shoes they sell, are not available at local stores, because they are made to be used with orthotics. And they sell much more comfortable orthotics. It'll cost you more, but if you have the money, it's definitely worth it. On my first visit, they spent 1 1/2 hours with me!

I know the feeling. There are times when my feet ache so bad all over that I feel like I've walked for days. There are times when I get home from work after standing for 6 hours (I am a substitute teacher) and sit down for 5 minutes I can't get back up because my feet are killing me. It's to the point I can only wear high heels for a half hour. And it's like you said he pain radiates from the heels to toes. One thing I ahve found that works for me are gel insoles for my shoes. They help absorb some of them shock of walking and cushion my feet so I can stand all day.
