LYRICA ALMOST RUINED MY LIFE!

I was on pregabalin for (6) years and one day it suddenly stopped working. Most likely from the amount of stress I was under at work. However, my doctor doubled my dose... 2 pills 3 x per day. I gained 40 lbs within 1 month. I was miserable from the added weight gain and muscle pain. That was 2 years ago and I'm still struggling to get the added weight off. I, now, seem to be very sensitive to medication specific to fibro relief. I stopped taking pregabalin (Lyrica) about 2 years ago, just after i doubled down, and was recently prescribed Gabapentin for my ongoing pain. That made my belly pop out! I looked as if I was/am 8 months pregnant from my belly pop. It's very high on my stomach and all the way around the sides in an unusual, painful and unflattering manner for sure. All I'm saying is be careful what you wish for. Once you gain that weight, it may not stop regardless of how healthy you eat, how much you exercise or how active you try to be. I've done everything I can think of to lose this weight and I refuse to take any new medications that have even the slightest possibility of weight gain. Any suggestions or theories on my "not pregnant, but appears to be" belly... I'm all ears. No matter what, best of luck to everyone.

@my3angels345 ....I wish I could give you advice, but I am a person with the opposite problem: I am far too thin and cannot gain weight. I am replying to you because I noticed no one had yet, and I did not want you to think you were ignored. Hopefully someone here can give you some advice on something you maybe haven't tried yet.
You might also try seeing a naturopathic doctor (if you can afford it....they often do not take insurance) to see if they have any suggestions on how to lose the weight.
Wishing you the best of luck.

I totally agree with you. That's how I was for years on Lyrica. I became a pillow. A pillow on the couch or on the bed. I make adjustments daily begining when I first open my eyes in the morning. I'm constantly reaccessing my pain. As I to know that if I do too much I will pay the price in pain. I'm lucky to say that in the last few years I've only had one severe fibro flare up. And I paid dearly. That is something I could go the rest of my life not experiencing again.

I've actually gone 3 days in a row with being productive for 4 hours each day. This is a huge improvement from the last 5 years. I have an appointment today. But my body is telling me it's had enough. So while I am slowly advancing I'm still only taking baby steps.

My wee has been, blue, neon yellow and pink (no blood). I'm normal now.

Keep moving forward as stopping now will only negate all progress thus far. I can relate and I'm clawing my way out.

I'm very curious as to how those that are 75+ years old are feeling with fybromyalgia?

Have an awesome day.

You were interested in how people over 75 cope. Better, but not much. Lots of ups n downs. Felt good so went for swim in sea. Could not venture out cos lost balance. Slight waves belted my neck. Had to crawl out of the water like a drowned rat. Went physio ended up with pain for a week so went on some pain killers from doc. I love the water. Too many people at all local pools. I was going well until the swim. I am my own worst enemy. Balance is not good. Have bowel issues, had cataracts removed for long sight now close vision is terrible. Grind teeth. Skin VERY sensitive. Normally I am much better. Frustrated with laptop cos of short-term memory. At least I sleep well. As I said the sea activity made me worse. Thanks for reading this. It made me feel better. Merry Christmas to all. Safe and hope for a good summer
