Has anyone has success with magnesium oil for pain?

Thanks for the swift update @JamieMarc I will be doing a check on UK suppliers to see what is available here. After just one use for you it sounds encouraging. And better a supplement over medications if possible

Needs some further investigations from me.
Seems some forms of oral magnesium can hinder the effect of my injected arthritis meds, so will take some further study from me to see if the same applies to the oil\cream method. Drat 😡

I forgot to check my sheets, but when I made the bed this morning I didn't notice anything. I had that same concern and asked the question before purchasing, but never got a response. Honestly, though, I don't think it will stain sheets or clothing. It absorbs so well. It doesn't feel oily or greasy after I have applied it, not like those greasy lotions.

I'll check my sheets closely tomorrow morning and let you know.

You're welcome, and I will post another update after I've used it for a few weeks. :D

@SBee Please let us know what you find out about the topical magnesium interaction with your arthritis med. It may be something useful to know should I ever start on an arthritis med besides the acetaminophen I already take.

@JamieMarc , thanks for the detailed report! I think I may try it, although the stickiness on my skin might be annoying to me. Did it come off on or stain your sheets at all? that would be an issue for me. Of course, if it truly helped with pain, comfort, and sleep it would be worth it, so I am just wondering. And maybe I could apply it an hour before bedtime to give it time to be absorbed, so that it wouldn't come off on the sheets.
Thanks again for letting us know your experience.
The stickiness is just on your hands after rubbing the spray in. It rinses off easily. As for the sprayed areas of the body, they dry in less than 5 minutes, and although it's called "oil" there is no sliminess, and it doesn't stain. Supposedly it gets absorbed by your body within 20 minutes.

I do think it matters where you spray it, because if a certain area is hurting, perhaps strained with any inflammation, you want to target that specific area well.

Another thing that I was told was to shake the bottle well before you use it.

@30 plus years I looked at the bottle last night after @sunkacola asked about staining since it's an oil. Lo and behold, I was surprised and happy to find that it actually contains no oil. The only two ingredients are water and magnesium. That would explain why it rinses with just plain water with no soap needed.

Good suggestion about shaking the bottle. I have been intuitively shaking it when I use it.

@30 plus years Also, thank you for the info on targeting specific pain sites. I wasn't sure that magnesium oil would work that way, but a little bit of research seems to back up your advice.

@sunkacola I just stripped my bed for sheet-washing day and noticed NO staining at all on my sheets or mattress topper cover. :)

Just like all supplements and stuff we discuss, I'm sure magnesium oil will help some and not others. I'm looking forward to seeing what long-term benefits I can get from it. I hope it works to some degree at least on others who are new to magnesium oil also.

Thanks for the info on this, @JamieMarc and @30 plus years!
I am going to get some. It's not so expensive that I can't get it and give it a try anyway. Anything that helps is worth doing, especially if it helps to relax at night and sleep better.

Thank you
I will also try to buy this I'm in the UK but I'm sure I can find it on that site or in the UK.
If it helps a little with my neck shoulder arm pain I will be a much happier person, as some days I feel I can't hold my head up correctly because of the ache and pain of a morning and at night
Thank you again take care everyone

I have some coming from Amazon. I hope it helps. As we all know, anything that helps even a little bit is a good thing. I'll report on the results after I have used it for a few days/nights.

@sunkacola I'm looking forward to hearing what results you have with the magnesium oil.

I have modified my application to three sprays at bedtime and another three sprays sometime in the morning after I've had some coffee. I have found that three to four sprays is plenty for me, probably because of my low body weight, comparably speaking, and the better absorption rate of topical magnesium.

At first I was only applying it at bedtime, but I have found that I also like to apply it in the morning where I find that it gives me some mild pain relief as well as a mental boost and lowered anxiety.

My B12 sublingual drops just arrived today. I took my first dose but I only took half since they come in incredibly high doses. I don't worry about that though since B12 is a water soluble vitamin and anything in excess of what the body needs is excreted through the kidneys. I did immediately notice after just my first dose a little pickup in my energy, mood and focus.

I don't think I will be taking any late in the day as it could interfere with sleep. On the plus side also, B12 is better absorbed in liquid form sublingually, and it also has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties for oxidative stress.

I am looking forward to hearing how the magnesium oil works for you @sunkacola
I'll be on the lookout for your update.

Hugs! 🤗

@sunkacola what brand do you use? I might like to give it a try. Thanks!

Just wanted to follow up on brand of magnesium oil spray I'm using. Spoke with chiropractor's office and they said they make it there with magnesium flakes, and she wasn't sure what brand it was. Sorry!

@JamieMarc mentioned earlier in this thread that he had done some research, and the Ancient Minerals brand is a reputable company, and that is what he is using. Since I find Jamie to be a very trustworthy individual, I decided to go with that information and I got that brand.

I have only had it for three or four days, and honestly I don't know if it is helping or not. I've been spraying it on my lower back at night before bed, since that is the area where I feel the greatest pain, and pain the most often. It stings a little bit when I rub it in, but actually the sting is a pleasant sensation, so I like that. I don't seem to be sleeping any better or deeper or longer. I haven't tried it in the daytime yet, but that will be my next thing to try.

Even if I don't feel significant effect from it at this point, I have an intuitive feeling that it is doing some good, and am glad I ordered it and plan to continue to use it daily.

@sunkacola Like you, the effect for me is not what I'd call significant, either, but I can tell it does make a subtle difference. I'm going to stick with it, too....call it my intuition, as well, but also I believe magnesium to be one of the supplements every person with FMS should be taking. Also, since I was already taking magnesium oral supplements, and a topical application absorbs more than the digestive lining, I've simply cut back on my oral supplement to just 150mg per day. With the spray applied in my mornings and at bedtime, I figure I'm getting about 300mg total per day, just about the right amount for a man my age. Although, since I feel like FMS sufferers need more, I'm still experimenting with how I want to up my dosage just a tad. I DO eat some foods high in magnesium, so there's that, too.

I have discovered that too much magnesium gives me a very mild headache, nothing to take anything for, but something I want to avoid just the same.

@sunkacola I'm glad that you are planning to continue using the spray, and I hope that even in some small way it helps you like it does me. I figure a lot of "small helps" add up to big help. LOL.
