Thank you tjpitts10 for your helpful suggestions. I will look into this "Sacred Sounds". I feel for you having this condition for 20 years. Has the severity of it changed over the years? How was your tinnitus diagnosed? And I totally agree with you that it is most annoying at night when we are trying to sleep.I have had tinnitus for over 20 years. Thankfully during the day I can ignore it. The time it most effects me is at night when I am trying to sleep. I have to have some background noise to drown out the ringing in my ears. I go to sleep with the tv on and set the sleep timer. I have discovered a free channel on the Roku called "Sacred Sounds". It has different sounds to choose from like waterfalls, forest sounds, or just relaxing music. I suggest turning on a radio if you don't have a tv in your bedroom or a Roku. Just a suggestion. Hope you find some relief.
Hi,
I suffer with chronic tinnitus. There are many opinions medically for the cause..stress, heart (pulsating tinnitus), lack of red blood oxygen, inner ear issues etc etc. I have read that it is now proven that cause of tinnitus stems from the brain.
Who knows eh!
I have severe sinus problems,FIBRO, CFS, pit adenoma plus a few other diagnosis. With crossover symptoms rarely do I get much help by go tbh....too much for them lol.
It can be hard to live with, comes and goes, hugely varying degrees.
In the UK it’s the Otology specialist who sees tinnitus sufferers, though referral goes through ENT.
I’ve has specialist test done, even on the brain for my tinnitus. Upshot was ending up with hearing aids which produce a noise (personalised set up by dr) which aims to drown down the tinnitus. They help but do not resolve the issue.
Stress definitely worsens my tinnitus.
Hope info helps.
Eff2013 I was wondering if you are still dealing with this? Tinnitus is something I suffer with and like tjpitts I find it the worst at night. Usually during the day I can focus on other things but at night it's an issue. I usually sleep with background noise like a fan to distract from it and also use guided meditations or meditation music to focus on as I fall asleep so I have something to listen to instead of the tinnitus. I use Insight Timer as a source for my meditations. It's really bothering me today though, even during the day, so I can use more suggestions, too.
I have not sought a diagnosis of this further, maybe I should have but when I mentioned it to my doctor she merely said it was normal symptom for fibromyalgia and that it is best managed by managing my stress. And I do notice that it gets worse when I have more stress. But I have dealt with it for years, not sure even how long, but at least 5 years if not longer.Thank you for asking Affinity, I am afraid the answer is yes. I am still dealing with this very uncomfortable and annoying condition. I finally got a referral to see an ENT specialist in a few weeks. Hope to get some answers.
How long have you been suffering with this and how was it diagnosed? Did you have to do any tests?
I've read that people can suffer from this for years. Sounds unbearable.
I will definitely try some sort of meditation music at night as a form of distraction but I'm not sure if my husband would be happy with that. Do you use head phones?
Yes, it's horrible when it bothers us during the day some times but at least there is always a lot of distraction around.
Life is not easy with fibro, hope you are having a better day today.
Oh eff, I am glad to read you are going to the ENT!! I will be waiting and watching to read what you find out. Best wishes and thinking of you! Yes, I think my tinnitus is strongly correlated with jaw pain and TMJ disorder. I am trying to address this issue as well but it's a slow process. But it's hard to decipher what issues are related to what condition and it's common for fibro patients to also have TMJ disorder.Just out of curiosity, does anyone have the tinnitus in conjunction with jaw pain?
I often got/get this, not having tinnitus. Being more sensitive now knowing I have cardiovascular issues and checking for that, I've realised it's usually blood pressure or usually a quick pulse, from inner thoughts. Autogenic training now helps me get that down (better than beta-blockers!), so the ideas of calming music might too.can you hear your pulse near your ear when you are on your side trying to fall asleep?
