Hi!
I was diagnosed with fibro in July. I'm feeling much better as Cymbalta and Flexeril help my symptoms immensely.
The problem I'm having is that there are no doctors in my area (close to Wilkes-Barre, PA) who seem to have a knowledgeable understand of fibro. Basically, I've been telling various doctors what I need (from searching the internet). I'm hoping to find someone who can talk to me about medications, supplements, nutrition, etc, rather than the other way around. I'm willing to travel up to 3 hours, so that would include the Allentown, Philadelphia and NYC areas.
Does anyone visit a practitioner within these areas who either specializes in fibro who can give me some guidance?
Thank you!

A program for Chronic Pain Management should be available to you. They are usually offered out of a hospital that is focused on rehabilitation programs. Ask your medical practitioner for a referral. Have to note, in many people, Cymbalta has been known to markedly increase appetite. Watch for too much weight gained too fast.

Thank you, although I have visited pain management clinics, I've found my experiences to be that of course the focus of visits revolve around prescription medication and procedures for pain, as expected. I'm hoping to find a practitioner experienced with fibromyalgia symptoms. Someone who could recommend pro-active strategies. (other than the generalized eat well, sleep, exercise....)

I hope you do find such a person. And, if you do, please post on the forum and let us know what they tell you. I don't know of any strategies for managing fibromyalgia other than those things you mention; in other words, things that will improve a person's overall health. Anything else, like using a TENS or cold or hot or certain exercises, etc. seems to be very much an individual thing, whether it works for a person or not. Wishing you the best of luck.
