I fully understand the difficulty in getting comfortable. I find that it is nearly impossible to be comfortable in bed. If I ever am, I revel in it so much!
But I have found that if I take a THC/CBD tincture when I go to bed it helps me to relax and that makes me much less uncomfortable and it is easier to stay asleep. So anything you can do to get yourself fully relaxed (or as fully as possible) will help. Not a "fix", but it helps.

And those times when my sleep has been so interrupted and uncomfortable that I don't get enough sleep I use as excellent opportunities to practice that radical acceptance we talk about. I have an elderly dog and he gets me up sometimes once or twice (occasionally more) in the night to let him out. I really appreciate his getting me up instead of going in the house but it sure wreaks havoc with my sleep some nights. I love him so very much that I really don't mind.....but I am tired. :-)

LOL, in my case it is not the dog needing to go, but me, which is enough... still sleep disruptive, no matter who it is.

As much as I would love to try this.. right now is probably not the best time... still coping with sertraline withdrawals and I dont want to add anything to the mix right now.
the only other meds i am using at the moment are for my COPD
Once the sertraline issue is resolved and gone, then I will see about other, more natural things

Weve been looking at acreage this week - bring on the privacy! No neighbors = no potential drama
yeah, until somebody buys the piece of land across the road from you (10 acres) and builds a house right directly across... (yes, this actually happened)

@cookiebaker : Ugh. Same thing happened to me. Ruined one of my views of the mountains. Got lucky in one way, though, they are quiet as church mice and I basically never see them.

@sweetkamie20 ,
Anywhere you go, unless you know who owns the property around you, and know they won't build or sell it to someone who will, there is this risk. Unless, of course, you can afford to buy enough acreage that you can put your house somewhere in the middle and have a few acres between you and all the neighboring properties. That would be one way to do it.

Near where I live (which is well out of town) the state department of transportation may take about 100 homes with land out here away from their owners by imminent domain and put through a highway that is in no way needed, since there's a perfectly good one not far away going in the same direction. People have bought land out here and then found out afterword and got a nasty surprise. Real estate agents did not disclose this to them.

Don't remember where you live, sweetkamie ( sorry if you have told that and I forgot) but in the US they can take your home for any reason they want even if your family has lived there for generations.

But risk depends on where you live. I have a friend who bought acres up a mountain surrounded by trees and no one is likely to put a house near him, and a road is impossible. :)

I sure wish you the best of luck because I fully understand your need for privacy and peace! I hope you find your dream home, with no neighbors!

thats the plan - enough acres to where it doesnt matter. Of course, theres always the chance something unforeseen will happen

I don't think I mentioned where I live but it's in Florida. How about you?

So true about imminent domain!!! You can do your best to predict potential changes but you never know. My husbands family has a suburb in one of America's most populated cities named after them because, initially, his grandfather owned all the land there. Banks, shopping center, various businesses use the name in their title. Long story short there was no special respect from the city for their family - they invoked imminent domain against one of the remaining chunks of land they owned! His uncle lost his dream house and property. imagine an area is named after you and then they steal your land lol

Hadn't thought about it but yeah, property where they physically can't put a road makes sense 🤔 Your friend has the right idea 👍.

Thank you! We need thevwell wishes
Sorry to hear about your view 😥

yup, buying enough land that i can happily live in the middle of it and not see anyone unless I want to is my dream.
Mountains would be a bonus! but MUST have trees! lots of trees! thinking a full section would work pretty well (roughly 640 acres, LOL)

Good luck with your acreage search, @sweetkamie20! I hope you find that perfect spot.

I find a lot of the time I try to be as I once was so like you overdo things then suffer later. Wouldn’t it be lovely to be normal just for a few days. Unfortunately we can’t go back to how we were. Hope your feeling better now. Love Nan

the last few days i have been dealing with med withdrawal symptoms (mostly dizziness, but other things, too) so it has been kind of tough. just turning my head to one side (like to look at the dog) will send the room spinning.. brain fog has been pretty bad, too..

So it seems that the woozy/dizzy feeling is finally starting to settle down.. was able to drive a little yesterday without feeling like i shouldnt be doing so.. (had my partner with me, so he could take over if needed) Still get the odd bad spell, but i really think i have turned a corner on this, so "Yay!" 🥳

Wouldn’t it be lovely to be normal just for a few days.
i would love to be "normal" even one day a week, or even one day every couple of weeks.. lol
Pre-jabs/MCAS I sometimes had 1-2 "normal" days after cryotherapy. After the 1st jab I sometimes had 1-2h in the evenings. But of course these weren't really normal, I just had more energy and was keeping under my limits. And keeping to my limits or fully controlled overdoing it is one of my "secrets" for high amounts of "feeling well", for getting a new "good" normal.
Another is just focusing on cherishing what I have, sometimes just a second or minute of seeming normality, of not feeling any restraints, inhibition, disability at all, free.
What also helps me is that my life was never normal, dunno about yours - was it really ever normal? Starting with a crappy grey childhood, clambering out of the mental and physical mire, grasping islands that seemed good, but actually gave way and were still half-submerged, till I was finally as healthy and happy as possible about 7 years ago. And there's so much good in my life (including you guys, but of course also my wife, my music, my faith - never been better) that I'm nowhere near falling back.... just progressing with other means...
So I know exactly what you mean, but on another level I don't want any of the normalities I've had in my life, I'd rather stay this kind of "abnormal". :D
And of course this is all a matter of perspective - the other grass is always greener, it always used to be better, is the glass half-full or half-empty, what actually is normal...

Oh I totally get it, Jay!
I think my childhood was actually pretty average, considering the era i grew up in (60s & 70s for the most part)

I would like to have the kind of "normal" where i get a good nights sleep - the restful, recharging kind, and be able to actually do things i enjoy doing again.. like yard work, or putzing with my car all day, or going for a nice long walk in the woods... things that are now difficult to sustain for more than just a few minutes at a time, maybe 30 at most, with hours of recuperation in between.

even if i could only have that for one or two days a month, it would be awesome.

my sleep is so variable these days.. might sleep ok one night (not really restorative, but sleep just the same) or barely sleep at all another night...
I had several months a while back of pretty bad insomnia.. could only sleep in short "cat naps" and then only when i was so tired i could not keep my eyes open any longer. I honestly can not remember the last time I had a really good, restful, recharging nights sleep. off the top of my head, i am going to say 2009-2010?

I try to do all the right things for sleep.. go to bed at about the same time every night.. tv gets turned off so the room is nice & dark, try to keep it cool (i do use a fan, too) but i just cant seem to stay asleep, for whatever reason... usually pain.. sometimes i need to make a trip (or two) to the bathroom, but it is usually the pain that wakes me up.. hip pain, shoulder pain, whatever part decides it wants to be the center of attention that night. 😒

good nights sleep ...... things i enjoy doing again.. like yard work, or putzing with my car all day, or going for a nice long walk in the woods
Hehe, had to look up putzing... German putzen'd mean cleaning it all day... :ROFLMAO: Roots of the word actually quite cheeky... 😁

Yep... again I'm so lucky: When I can't sleep or dose or get up tired, I do something nice without strain and enjoy having a reason for not being too productive. Even if your car is my bike (I hate cars, love bikes) I never liked doing these things for a long time, half an hour is fine and always was.
Additionally I go for quality time to increase my happiness about what I do. Dentist today has floored me again, probably for days, maybe weeks or longer. So first instead of trying to get up the stairs, realizing I can now hardly move (otherwise heavy, nauseous, headache), everything SloMo, I went into our garden, laid down on a for half an hour on a blanket and heard a delightful whispered blackbird song, saw the splendid details of leaves and blades of grass, moss, a woodlouse clambering over it, savoured a short soft breeze - so much beauty in this world right before my eyes... I also saw things I could otherwise have done and imagined doing them... whenever... Then in and slowly up to the loo - discovered a new way to save a few stair steps.... relief, fresh water... pretty towel... tidied something up a bit for a minute.. practicing my slick graceful slowest possible walk again ... a king on the way to his throne with a bit of Fred Astaire mixed in for a lark ... smiling at a bit of mess in my room... realizing I don't need to eat, later just yogurt with applesauce.... hmmm... putzing with my laptop all day... ah, one short phone call 'd be fun... and was... putzing again... what a beautiful day... I'm alive.... Oh yeah, if I force myself I can think about my eyes being half closed, 8 parts of my body hurting a bit, feeling as if I had half the oxygen in my body I need, knowing that I'll need longer to get up... ah... no no no, back to putzing ... much better.. any putzing vids o youtube .... not that much, but an inspiring name of one: "putzing around the rainbow" 🌈 .... yessss.... 😄 Ah, time for another deep breathing exercise, like I did in a break in the dentist's chair, wonderful!
And who says the grapes up there aren't sour anyway! :ROFLMAO:

for me the word "putzing" is more like the word "puttering" for others - doing things, but not in any hurry.
i did grow up in an area that had a lot of German (and Polish) ancestry, and I now live in a completely different area with very similar roots. ;) Add to that mix that my step-father's family is very German - his Grandmother was a transplant direct from Germany.. and well.. now you know where I get it from, LOL. I even went so far as to take a semester of German in high school, thinking I could carry on a conversation with her in her native tongue.. LOL, yeah.. right.. oh well. All i remember of that anymore is how to count to 10. 🤣

Have recently discovered my ancestry is 90% North & Central European (mom's side of the family) and 10% Southern Europe/Mediterranean (probably get this from dad's side). According to Family history, mom's family are primarily from the UK, which fits that scenario pretty well.

ah, you describe things so eloquently.. I could almost hear the birdsong and feel the soft breeze with you. 🥰

i will be attempting to do some "putzing" with the car very soon... need to get the timing belt & associated pulleys changed on it before winter hits... cant believe it is September already... I dont relish the idea of having the belt break in the middle of winter, and possibly destroying the engine in the process, not to mention leaving me stranded.. that would not be good.
