Was recently diagnosed as having anemia after routine blood work with my GP. I had been feeling even MORE fatigued and made of lead prior to that ... and thought maybe it was a fibro flare.
He put me on iron pills right away, and said a colonscopy is needed to see if there's any intestinal bleeding ... even though stool sample came back as normal. I'm close to 30 years with this lousy fibro ... and am 76 yrs. old. Can no longer socialize, so friends and family have drifted away ... and I don't know anyone dealing with anemia.
I researched on line and there are many reports of anemia with fibro. My concern is that there may be other tests and/or treatments that can be done before the colonoscopy which is about 2 weeks away. The wait is so that certain meds & vitamins have to be stopped 10 days before test.
Surely you've said many times, "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired" ... and doing ONLY what you can is key. Along with meds, of course. But no help for fatigue
Would like to hear from any of you who have been diagnosed with anemia, so we might "compare notes". Go ahead and giggle, but this whole thing is a pain in the butt !!!
Thanks for reading, and my best wishes are with all of us all of time time, from PhillyFibro
