Hello!

I experience dry eyes on a daily basis and it actually affects my eyesight. Has anyone experienced this and if they tried or came across any natural remedy? I've tried fish oil, but even at the largest dose there is no improvement.

Cheers!

Oh yes this is horrible as is the dry mouth, I find it hard to control at night as it wakes me. I have on a couple occasions woken with my eye lid stuck to my eye ball, them when I open my eye it rips a layer off my eye and I end up with an ulcer, oh that’s cruel.
I use hylo-forte drops, they are in a pump bottle. If it’s really bad at night it’s best to use a cream as it does last longer.
I personally don’t like the creams or mouth gels as when your so dry it cakes up😢
I was diagnosed with sjogrens 13 years ago.

So sorry to hear that. That's sounds awful, and I hope you recover from it.
I'll definitely be giving it a try!

Harpy - Have you tried Biotene rinse for your dry mouth? IMO, it is sickeningly sweet, but it does seem to work, and it is supposed to prevent cavities too. The alcohol in most eye drops is too drying for me, so I use Bausch and Lomb Sooth XP eye drops. You do have to make sure you do not need to drive right away with these since they turn your vision a milky color for 5-10 minutes after use, but they don't burn like the others I've tried. I don't have Sjogren's though....that sounds awful. I do take a high dose of a very drying medication (Clonidine) that helps my very high blood pressure, sensory overwhelm, and pain.

Yes I have most of the Biotene products. The toothpaste is good too.
That’s what the eye gel I have does, really blurs up the vision for quite a while, so I generally stick to the halo-forte drops. Get pretty much instant relief if I lift eye lids and roll my eyes around, spreads it quick.

Have you tried to open your tear ducts? You can Google it and try it yourself. My eye doctor recommended it. It takes a while to see progress. Also, washing your eyes every morning with a gentle cleanser or baby shampoo. We often have salt crystals in or around our eyes that you can't see, but do make us miserable. My dry eyes are much more comfortable now. Good luck!

Thank you! No I haven’t. I will definitely look it up.

Dry eyes predisposes us to having an overgrowth of demodex mites in our eyelashes, and blepharitis and chalazions as well. There are several brands of eyelash wipes you can buy that clean and kill them in your eyelashes. The wipes help rosacea too, for those like me who also have that.

Oh dear! Just when you think it stops at dry eyes alone!

I too suffer from dry eyes. I use over the counter eye drops for lubrication at least twice a day. I have found the Equate brand lubricating drops for dry eyes to be the best for me, and a bonus is that they are among the most affordable eye drops available. I'm not aware of any natural remedies.

I always wake up with dry eyes. And then toward the end of the day when I'm ready to sit down and watch TV and also at bedtime. I was also diagnosed with blepharitis years ago. For that I use a hypochlorous acid spray to clean my eyelids.

I tried the lozenges at night for dry mouth, but they were just too annoying for me. Nowadays, I find that just drinking lots of water helps with my dry mouth most of all.

Thank you @JamieMarc Sorry to hear and I will definitely try all the suggestions in this post including yours! May we all find health and healing!

I’m not sure about all natural, but I use Systane and gel drops as well. These two have worked wonders for my eyes when they are really bad. If I could just remember to do it everyday, my eyes wouldn’t be as bad, but remembering to do something is just too much for me.. hahah. I am going to try to be better.

@thparker13 I know what you mean about remembering everything. I seem to have no problem remembering to give my dog medication if he needs it, but remembering something to do for myself is much harder for some reason! I usually have to set up notes for myself, or put something on my pillow if I have to do it before bed, leave a sticky on the bathroom mirror....that kind of thing. Of course, after a while I have to change it to a different memory reminder, because I get too used to seeing the sticky and I sort of no longer see it  but I use several different methods to get myself to remember the things I should do for myself.

@thparker13 I never heard of gel drops. Can you please provide the brand and name of these drops? Thank you.

They are called GenTeal eye gel drops. They are so lubricating. I use both at times. Maybe one in the morning and one at night if my eyes are really dry.
