Just do frustrated...March found me hospitalized twice with Thyroid Storm symptoms, SOB, resting HR of 135 and pain/pressure chest...on second hospitalization did full cardiac work up including echo and chem stress test...perfectly fine Praise God, got appt with endocrine doc she did full work up, said my thyroid is fine. Great. Fantastic. But now what do I do? I have pretty much ALL hypothyroid symptoms and the occasional hyper (storm symptoms) I'm just SO sick of going back to the drawing board and they are just attributing everything to stress. See PM doc first week in May, we shall see...

I completely feel your pain... it's so frustrating and scary to know your doctors aren't really trying so hard to find out what is wrong with you. That' why they blame everything on stress, when they don't know what's going on they always blame it on your head or stress, right... easy way out! I know because I also have weird symptoms that match certain diseases, but my doctors don't take me seriously. So frustrating! You are not alone!

I know it's hard, but if you suspect your symptoms might be caused by something specific, then don't be afraid to be pushy with your doctors! Sadly most doctors nowadays couldn't care about their patients, so we need to take this in our hands and research on our own... and hopefully guide them to the right diagnosis. Yeah, I know it sounds tough, but that's how it is with most doctors :(

Thank you, yes it is frustrating. And my whole adult life I've had a high resting HR but normal blood pressure, as well as basal body temp of 97.7, yet more thyroid indicators...I do understand the stress/fibro cycle but causing thyroid storm symptoms that required two hospitalizations etcetera? You are so right though, I must just keep on my docs. My PCP is wonderful though, and literally follows up with me if they have done a specialist referral for me to be sure I've made an appointment etc. I'm so blessed to have him! I see him Thursday for yearly blood work results etc but he added Celiac and IBD serology to the tests ordered. Thanks so much for your reply, it's great to know I'm not alone and this is my first forum! :-)

Hi Kerrie :) I'm glad my reply helped you feel better :) Glad to hear you are getting tested for celiac disease! I think a lot doctors overlook that possibility, so it's good your PCP ordered that :) Wouldn't it be wonderful if all doctors were just like that? You can easily tell who truly enjoys their job and helping people :) Those who really enjoy their job are better doctors, at least that's what I have observed :) Glad to hear you are enjoying the forum, hope to see you around here often :)

Thanks! Yes my test results on celiac turned out inconclusive so I'm FINALLY making that appt with the GI that I promised him I was going to do last year! He and his staff are AMAZING, as well as any specialist he has referred me to. Interesting thing though, I have been doing gluten free anyway for almost two and a half weeks and it's helping A LOT...most notably with my severe IBS issues so I'm pretty sure I have it or at the very least that GF is a really good way to handle the fibro. One of my most debilitating (ie make it impossible for me to finish grad school/work) is the MAJOR depression/anxiety and the new diet is helping a great deal with that.

Wow! That's awesome! So there is a big change you could be suffering from celiac disease? I guess the GI will be the one who will tell be able to tell you for sure! I'm so glad to hear a gluten-free diet is helping you, I'm actually thinking of going gluten-free as well, believe it or not I don't recall my GI ever suspected I could have celiac disease, I will see him soon, will ask him for sure.

By the way, so glad this new diet is helping you with your depression and anxiety, I know how awful those two are because I suffered from them (and still do to a lesser degree). I guess what they say about being what you eat is true!

Thank you! Well yesterday at my PCP I found out that I do not have celiac BUT IBD serology showed very serious inflammation... Made a consultation with the G.I. next week. But my doctors have all been bothering me about going GF for like two years now for fibromyalgia, and I can see why because it's helped a lot. I was foolish when I found out I technically don't have celiac I let myself eat one piece of whole wheat bread and ended up in the ER two nights ago with severe nausea and vomiting plus major abdominal pain. So it's quite clear celiac or not I can't have gluten period.

Woah! Well, glad to hear you don't suffer from celiac, but I know you must feel so confused because you can't consume gluten! Uhm, I guess going to see your G.I. is a really good idea. Have you ever had a colonoscopy? If you haven't, then you should really ask for one. I'm sure it's nothing, but I always tell myself: ''better be safe than sorry''. If you can get an endoscopy as well, I had one some weeks ago because ever since I came back from abroad I had been feeling so nauseous and sick in general, well, it turns out I can't tolerate ''real'' milk that well :s Sometimes it's something as simple as that :)

No I have never had a colonoscopy but my PCP suspects I will be getting one plus another endo...had two during the past five years. Five years ago they found duodenal ulcer, last year they found the ulcer had healed but I had MAJOR esophageal erosions so I take large doses of Protonix daily. My PCP suspects ulcerative colitis but I looked up the symptoms and it just doesn't seem to fit. Oh well that's what the GI is for right? :-)
