Hi! I am a new member but have been diagnosed for a little over a year. I have a new symptom that is really bothering me and I can get any answers. Does anyone else have jaw pain? I have seen my PCP along with an ENT. Had brain MRI that was clear but I cannot find any relief! Anyone else out there experience this and what has helped? I am at my whits end trying to find something that works.

See your dentist! There are mouth guards they can fit you for that you wear at night to help with the two, they can also officially diagnose tmj if it hasn't been diagnosed yet and you have it.

Hi Katie, I actually work for a dentist and they took a panoramic xray. The joint itself looks good. No popping or clicking. They made a night guard guessing it would help and it has not. That is why I saw PCP & then ENT. It is very frustrating. I'm almost certain it is muscle related. Just curious how many others have had this & what worked.

If you can find a doctor that specializes in orofacial pain, then I would suggest going to see them.

I was diagnosed with TMJ when I was a teenager and the thing that finally started to get it to hurt me a lot less was a saline wash thing that they did on my jaw. They hooked me up with two tubes, one to put the saline in and the other to pull it out to try to get the cartiledge to shift back where it was supposed to be.

Thanks dorann, I will look into that. At this point, I will try just about anything (:

Welcome!
I responded to your other post on this, but I'm just now seeing this thread. Have you gotten a back massage? Often times the muscles that hurt the most are not the ones with the knots, and the knot that will release the pain is elsewhere in the body. For me, my jaw pain often stems from a knot under my shoulder blades.

Hi,

I have very bad jaw pain (TMJ) with my fibro. What I have found helps me is I got a night guard from the dentist, but wear it most of the time. It has to come out when I eat, but I probably wear it 20 or more hours a day. It keeps my jaw for locking up so bad. Also I have had a physical therapist actually do releases inside my mouth. My physical therapist was a chronic pain specialist. Some chiropractors can also do this. The problem is finding one who is willing to work in the mouth. Hope this helps some.
