Ran across something while browsing the internet that I just have to share with you all.
Go to YouTube and type in "Studies show that watching a beaver eat cabbage lowers stress by 17%"
Don't know what it will do for you, but I watched it over and over, and it DID lower my stress level! And a friend I sent it to said she did the same.
Even if you don't have any particular fondness for beavers, you may love this video. It made me love beavers within the first 7 seconds. :)

@sunkacola quite possibly one of the strangest recommendations I have come across...

And yet. Weirdly addictive to watch,and dont know if its all in my head, and if it does lessen my stress, but it really does make me feel better! Must be viewed with sound on to get full benefits. Not what I was expecting to watch on a Tuesday evening, but I'll take it 😁

@sunkacola @SBee

Sorry, this one's lost on me. Is it any more calming than many animal videos? One of the most calming I've seen/heard is Albatross by Fleetwood Mac with video and/or photos of the birds

@BlueBells , The "lowers stress" was the title of it, is all.
If it doesn't work for you, it doesn't.......we are all different. Fleetwood Mac, for instance, would most definitely NOT work for me!!
I only posted it because I liked it, and thought it was fun to watch, just like all the other "memes" and things that people post in this section. (Most of which don't do anything for me....so there ya go! ;) )

okay @sunkacola

I didn't mean to get your back up. I watch lots of animal videos, don't get me wrong. I understand what you say re the memes etc.

Fleetwood Mac, that one instrumental, it was only a couple of years back that I found out who played it. I wasn't meaning the group in general. Have you ever listened to it? The soft, swaying type of sounds, I find them very peaceful and relaxing.

Yes, horses for courses. I do understand that :) Hugs 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

No worries, @BlueBells ......it's totally OK! .....it takes a lot more than that to get my back up!! :D
Like I said, we're all different, and we don't have to like or appreciate all the same things. I say: whatever works for you, use it.

I haven't listened to that music you mention. I'm glad you like it, and I know many people find certain kinds of music to be very soothing, and I think that's great.
I don't listen to music at all, ever. To me, it is noise, and being noise sensitive, I prefer silence.
I am lucky to have found a very quiet place to live, and I love it that way. Except when my dogs bark to let me know there's something going on, there's almost no noise at all beyond wind and birdsong and coyotes howling. Love that.
Hugs back to you. :)

@sunkacola

I understand noise sensitivity in that, some noises really bug me. It's good you've been able to find a quiet place, not that easy nowadays.

I've always found it odd how people complain about the noise animals/birds, especially dogs, make, but they don't seem to have the same attitude to "people noises" , like cars, loud music, even talking. Have you noticed that?

Neighbours here get pretty loud at times, just yappering on the verandah (houses are close) and another neighbours dog barks a couple of times and they out-volume the dog telling it to shut up.

Dogs need to talk too, it's communication, after all.

Hugs 🤗 🤗

@BlueBells ....Yes, I also fail to understand why anyone would object to animal noise but be OK with human noise. I am exactly the opposite, which is why I am simply not capable of living in a city, or even a town. Traffic, sirens, human voices and most especially music would drive me nuts, pretty much literally. I just wouldn't be able to live where I heard that.

Where I live I hear birds and coyotes. Neighbors are close enough I can sometimes hear their dogs bark, but none of them bark on and on, and I never let mine carry on barking either. A few dog barks are OK with me, both from my own dogs and from others. I have lived in places where the closest neighbor was a mile or more away, and that was even better. But this isn't too bad.

Someone set off fireworks last night nearby. Not just little ones....great big up in the sky bursting with colors fireworks. That was very unpleasant for me, and scared one of my dogs so much (he was outside when it started) that he is still frightened this morning. I'm not happy about that, and dreading the fact that new year's eve is not far away, and if they did that on a random thursday night what will they do then? Must be someone new to the area because that has not happened before.

Thanks for the idea - I'll try it! After living with fibro for over 40 years, I'll use all the help I can get!! God bless you!!

I only have access to the internet on my laptop not on my phone & am struggling to find it so would be grateful if someone who is far more 'Tech Minded' than me (& am sure that's a lot of you!) would post a link to it on here - thanx in front if anyone can x

@Rainbow .....It is against the rules of this forum to post outside links....that is, any link to something that is not on this forum. That's why I did not initially just post a link to it. But never mind...it's not important to see it. It's just a funny and sweet little thing I posted because it brightened my day and I hoped it would do the same for others. :)

Understood, I'm all for anything that brightens days!

Hi @Rainbow

that sounds so like me. :) :) :) I have internet on my mobile phone, but try to never use it as I just get lost with it. I feel comfortable with the laptop, still barely touched more than jigsaws etc on the tablet.

Back to the Romans and Egyptians with our tablets and hieroglyphics :):):)
