Staying positive is hard work. I have found that by enjoying visits with friends and by trying to stay involved in my favorite hobbies I can stay away from getting overly depressed. When you are overwhelmed by crowding to many things into your days the idea of being postive is harder to bear and it is easy to sink in self-dispair as the body is in to much pain. By pacing yourself and only doing small amounts of chores each day and getting family to help you when the pain is at its worse, it will help you to remain more positive on a day-to-day basis. Good Luck!
I don't think I have ever heard anyone say that they found it easy to stay positive. That would include Fibro as well as any other kind of chronic pain.
I think what most people do is to break off little chunks of time and fill it with things they enjoy... yes, the pain is always there to remind you, but "I'm going to try my best to enjoy my outing this afternoon" is a whole lot easier to deal with than "How am I going to get through the rest of the week or month?"
Maybe when we learn to cope is when we stop looking for new things to help... which would mean resigning yourself to just coping may not always be the best answer. Hmmm.... that sounded weird, but my thought processes are strange sometimes... hope you know what I meant.
