Ahh dear here i am at the end of a brutal day painwise. My partner has also had a big week and he does a manual labour job. Hes an incredible man and i love him to pieces but i am seriously struggling with his snoring. Ive tried ear plugs etc, hes tried a cheap mouth guard and this mouth spray stuff. But the mouth guard wasn't comfortable and the spray tastes gross.

Now i can usually manage to fall asleep first, or listen to beach waves play list but some days(usually the rough ones) i just cant block it out and I'm really struggling.

Any tips? (We dont want to be sleeping in different beds)

Tired, in a lot of pain and struggling 😔😔

I use to have this issue (and sometimes do). The sound of snoring annoys me like no other. He found out he has sleep apnea. So when he wears his mask, it’s pretty easy to sleep. But, sometimes, he won’t wear it n I get mad!!!! I’m sorry, I tried for a year to find something and everyone has the solution, but nothing worked. Has he had a sleep apnea test? Previously, I kicked him to the couch n he had a physically laboring job, as well. He starts a new job today working first shift so he will be sleeping every night when I sleep. I feel your pain. When your sick n in pain you’re ready to scream or smack him with a pillow.

Oh my you hit the nail on the head there, for me it has got to be one of the most irritating noises ever, and when your in pain(so most of the time for us 🤦‍♀️) that patience string can be a lot shorter at times, the pillow bit made me laugh, i dont quite smack him with a pillow i just stuff them behind his back so he cant roll onto his back cus thats soooo much worse
Hes never had a sleep apnoea test, hes 25, but also a typical kiwi bloke who unless theres blood pouring out of him somewhere you wont get him in a doctors office. The more frustrating part is even if he did go get a sleep apnoea test and got a machine i know with a good amount of certainty that he wouldnt wear it, or would wear it a couple times, be uncomfortable and then not use, because he doesnt like the mouth guards or the snoring spray(its this point that makes me see red just a little bit, as im lying there in a crap tonne of pain, tired as hell and he doesnt want to either wear a mouth guard thats a wee bit uncomfortable, or use the snoring spray because it taste a bit gross.)

Most of the time i dont compare my pain or discomfort to others, in fact i actively work to not do this because my scope of reference is different having been crook for over 8 years, but in the middle of the night in a lot of pain and listening to him snore its definitely hard not to go to that place of 'youve got to be kidding me, you wont use something mildy uncomfortable or a bit unpleasant tasting knowing that im lying here in a crap tonne of pain and your snoring is making sleep even more impossible to achieve 😭 "
And then in the morning im tired, and hes grumpy because ive told him to roll on his side a few times during the night(usually i only have to do this once and put pillows behind him, but some nights its multiple times)

I know sleep is so important for everyone I'm just struggling with getting him to understand that good sleep is important for both of us, and if he used the snoring aids then we would both get a good nights sleep because i wouldnt be asking him to roll over in the night, and when i wake up in the night id be able to get back to sleep.

We had the same issue. My husband uses a cpap machine and no more snoring. His snoring was so bad, I could hear it downstairs when the bedroom door was closed. It was unreal.
Its honestly so bad, and they dont realise just how loud it is, and you get the whole oh its not that loud is it... YES IT IS THAT FRIGGIN LOUD 😭😭

I was also going to suggest checking for sleep apnoea ( I'll admit to spell check lol .)

Off topic, but that reminded me of a tv show from my teens/pre teens. I cannot remember the name, but one part was Keith Smiths' Pocket Money Riddle Roundup. Anyway, they held a competition for who's dad snored the loudest.

There were heaps of entries, and they played many, but the hands down winner was impressive, tuneful, very loud, and had the studio audience in stitches (as did it us viewers).

They brought all the finalists families to the studio, and most of the dads were positive they didn't snore. The fellow that won was quite shocked and embarrassed. His wife and family were so pleased he finally accepted he snored 😁 😁

Yea he use to get mad at me waking him up to tell him to roll over. The nerve of him! I’m wide awake and you want to grumble? In America, there are new machines that go on your front shoulder and prevents snoring. No mask I don’t know if they work, but I’m not pushing it bc if it didn’t I’d throw him n both machines out!!! I have zero patience!

For me I all the things i can do to try and get back to sleep before i tap him and ask him to roll on his side. I try really hard to be patient, but on those brutal nights i have no patience whatsoever.
Im very crook at the moment which is brutal for me, but also challenging for him as he wants to help but theres very little he can do. He takea care of me and goes above and beyond, I am very lucky, last night for example he knew i was not in a good way, so when i got home from work hed already heated up my wheatpacks, had put my waterbottle by my pillow and had pulled the bed back for me and as soon as i walked in he took my handbag to put by my side of yhe bed and put my little bags one meds one and the other things like moisturiser lip balm etc.

I am learning not to feel guilty or blame myself for when i need to go straight to bed. He knows i tend to feel guilty so kinda just takes charge and helps me to bed makes sure i have whatever i need.

In short he does so much so i always try hard to use waking him to get him to roll over as a last resort, but i know my body and condition physically very well so sometimes my last resort is alot sooner if that makes sense

We have got him a snoring mouthguard though that pulls his bottom jaw forward to prevent or minimise snoring so we are trialling that at the moment

Unfortunately snoring for me has got to be one of the most irritating noises on the planet
