are you on disability? any pain meds? the problem we all have with pain meds is one they wear your nerves down and pain

tolerance goes down, then your body like to adapt and you need increasing levels or keep switching meds.

i have a blessing and a curse i have adhd it reacts with pain meds different i dont get addiction, i dont need to

switch often and others but it does still wear my nerves and more pain but i dont take or increase my dose.

hey enough out of me welcome let me the forum know what we can do for you

a person to lean on cry to on bad days vent yell just say it.

take care

welcome erin. what are you to young for?

keep looking for a RA or neuro.

have your GP start you on gabapentin.

read my thread "starting a daily log book and why it helps"

start your log book asap. this will help the doctors understand where you are.
your not to young. fibro has no age limits!

we have folks here in their early 20's with this.

you need to vent about this.

start a new thread called venting and let it go. we are here to support you any way we can.

i know about no meds.

read my post "my journey with morphine withdrawals"

befriend me and forget and grouchy. then private message us as you need.
we can help you reduce your pain levels.

Hello. I was taking tramadol and it helped so much well my pain doc said im too young to stay on so after a year of feeling much better at three to six pills a day 50 mg tabs she cut me off cold turkey last Thursday with no notice so that i coukd wean myself ...im in intense withdrawl at this moment. I cant take alot of meds cause im either allergic or they have nsaids in them and i have bleeding disorder so i cant take nsaids. Bc im such a difficult patient to treat she just gave up. I have state insurance im on ssi didnt qualify for disability bc i hadnt worked enough terms . not many pain docs take my state health insurance so basically im screwed. My pcp cant prescribe long term pain help which is why she sent me to the pain management now they have given up. Im raising five children and can barely stand to be alive. I believe i also have chronic lyme disease im being worked up for that through igenix lab in California in october. My nuero dr will send them my lab work. Like i said i wasnt to young for them to do all those surgeries now that i need pain management im too young for them to continue helping me. So angry

i understand how you are feeling.

most doctors dont care about withdrawals.

try taking hot showers when the waves of withdrawal pain come.
do the breathing exercises and the tapping technique. try meditation.

come here for support as you will find many there to help you.

I'm not from the USA but from what I read so many of u get shoved aside.keep looking for that one Dr who will help you, don't give up .
You believe in yourself ,you have made it this far just keep on fighting x

Do you have a university hospital near you? Our university hospital has top notch treatment and accept all payment plans or you can apply for financial assistance (=free if your income is low enough) because they receive state and federal funding as a school. You might also try a Fibromyalgia Study. I came across one on Facebook. I think it's been about 5 weeks now, and I think it is helping me. I'm only in the study for 3 months, but that's 3 months more than I had before.

Hi Im just curious about you mentioning adhd - I've recently been diagnosed with this also...is there some link between this and fibro as I had read some info on the web and wondered if you knew anything about a connection? Thanks

That is an interesting idea. I've seen studies that point to a connection with bipolar and panic disorder.

I did a quick search and found one study that connects fibromyalgia with the inattentive type of ADHD. Other studies find higher rates of ADHD among fibromyalgia patients than the general ppopulation. I guess both conditions involve abnormalities in neurotransmitters.

Whoa! Sorry about the 3x post - I have no idea how I managed to do that :?

I tried a low dose of ADD meds just before being diagnosed with fibro. I didn't think the ADD meds did anything to help with the brain fog. That doesn't mean they might not help you. As an educator, I diagnosed myself with ADD about 15 years ago, long before I had fibro symptoms. I already had several coping mechanisms. The best for me has been my phone that has contact names (in case I forget one!) and calendar tool. If my phone doesn't beep and remind me of a meeting or a project I'm supposed to work on, I'd probably forget everything. I also make lists, lots of lists, to help me remember.
