Recently I was hospitalized with ischemic colitis. Still, a month later, having issues and know this hasn't resolved completely. I have had fibromyalgia for over 25 years and deal with IBS frequently and know the two go hand in hand. There does not seem to be a definitive answer for what caused the colitis. Dehydration, low blood pressure and infection, the main culprits, all do not apply to me. I wondered if anyone else had experienced this and feels it is related or could be caused by fibro. I know ulcerative colitis can be. Thanks for listening.

While there is no scientific proof or indication that colitis and/or IBS and fibromyalgia go together or are related, many people with fibro do experience those other things.

Some feel that the two are related. I think it is more likely, since by no means does everyone with fibro have IBS or colitis, nor is the reverse true, that these conditions simply happen in the same individuals some of the time. People with fibro also sometimes have other health conditions, unfortunately, and the list of those is pretty long. And I do feel strongly that having fibromyalgia can make worse any other health conditions that an individual may have, if for no other reason than the fact that the body is usually exhausted dealing with chronic pain and there is less energy to manage other problems.

So far, fibromyalgia research has not found any actual connections among them, but if there is enough research over enough time, eventually maybe they will.

Yes, this is the same as what I have been able to learn. I was just wondering if anyone else here had experienced this and how they dealt with it. Thanks for responding.
