is it autoimmune

Some people say FMS is a type of autoimmune disorder. I am wondering if this is the case. Please give me your input.

I don't think it's an autoimmune disease because it doesn't physically attack the parts of your body like an auto-immune disease does. Fibromyalgia causes malfunctions within our neurotransmitters. I think it's linked to autoimmune disorders because many people with autoimmune disorders have Fibromyalgia too (like me)

I agree with LivetoErr, I doubt this disease is actually autoimmune, but there can be a link between this disease and autoimmune diseases. At this speed I doubt we will ever know for sure. It seems it doesn't matter how much time passes... the medical community just can't dig anything new or revealing about this disease. Disappointing.

You see a lot of back and forth about this. One internet site says yes. The other says no. I believe the medical field does not consider it to be autoimmune.
