Hi everyone
Hope you are all ok, I'm looking for some advice, I've had a bad few days and cried quite a lot with pain and frustration.

I have been trying to avoid taking any painkillers and using holistic medicines and potions and lotions, however sometimes it gets so bad and the pain won't subside so I have taken paracetamol or cocodomol only 2 once in the day.

Do you think if I'm having bad pain that won't subside it would be ok to take 2 cocodomol which do work for me to subside the pain, but only 2 in the day so I can function and only if I need them.

I don't want to take them all the time, I know sunkacola does not take any pharmaceutical medication aswell as many others and wondered is there anything in particular to subside the pain, when it's breaking point instead of taking cocodomol
Thanks in advance and keep well everyone if you can

As I am in the USA, I was not familiar with the term cocomodol, but I know that paracetamol is the same as acetaminophen, or the brand name Tylenol in the US. It's perfectly safe to take it, as long as you don't over do the dosage, and taking a couple a day is not likely to cause any harm. It does affect the liver and kidneys, so you want to make sure you are not taking it alongside cold medication that contains the same, as overdosing on it can lead to damage or even failure of those organs, but if you are taking only a couple a day that won't happen. Red the lab el and don't take more than the maximum per day that it lists, and if in doubt ask your doctor.

If this OTC medication works for you, then you are incredibly fortunate, as most people with fibromyalgia are not helped at all by mild OTC pain medications such as this. As for me, I do take pain medication when I need to; I just try to keep it to a minimum. For several years I did not take any at all, but things have changed and now I find it necessary. We all need to make the choices and decisions that are best for each of us, and remember that that can change over time.

When it comes to other things to try, I'm afraid you just have to experiment. What works for one may or may not work for you, so the only thing you can do is try anything that you think might help and find out if it does or not.

Thank you for your quick reply, and I have taken note of everything you have said regarding taking too many tablets
You are very wise and knowledgeable and you put everything in a very good way.

I am very careful about medication never been a pill popper, and that is how I mean to go on, unless things change

I will still stay on my holistic medicines and I have been able to access cbd with thc from a very good friend, who was a pharmacist so a very reliable source
I will try for a month and see if it helps and take the odd paracetamol when I need too
Many many thanks again
Keep well and take dare care.

Hi @Kitkat57
I do also take cocodamol ( think in USA solpadol or tylex maybe?) I take OTC version which is weaker than prescribed strengths, and take one every morning and one at night, as these are my most painful times of the day. I also have other chronic conditions and have other prescriptive meds such as naproxen - this I am prescribed 3 per day but only actually take one most days. However, if my pain\inflammation is very high I occasionally take an additional on as a temporary extra help.

I try to keep meds to the minimum i can take whilst balancing in a reasonable quality of life. It I were you, I would check with your GP to ensure any change in frequency of cococamol fits in with any other meds. Fibro like to mess things up a bit, so some days are far worse than others and my need a little more medication. But I would still ask your GP and try to explain the pain fluctuations of fibro and hence you wish to medicate accordingly.

Thank you sbee
Vey helpful information, I like you keep everything to a minimum, unless the pain gets too much and then I need a little help. I will keep with my holistic medicine and finally getting some sleep with cbd and thc.

Although still wake up stiff and aches and pains, but is bearable once I start moving with small steps and little stretches and whatever I can manage to help with pain
Thank you agsin
Keep well
