Hi All-
Many thanks to those who created and now manage this website along with the many folks who contribute their histories, ideas and suggestions.
I am a 59 year old male and have had chronic low back pain for many years. An L4-L5 fusion in 2011 successfully treated severe radiculopathy (right sided S1 nerve root compression). However, a series of injuries left me with degenerative disc disease that was not amenable to surgical intervention. In early 2013 the pain became wide spread and associated with severe fatigue. My pain management specialist diagnosed me with Central Pain Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. As has been my usual approach to things I continued to work full time in a high stress, fast paced, health care facility while ignoring my worsening symptoms. Finally, this past summer I was unable to get out of bed due to pain and fatigue. I've been out of work since that time and uncertain if I will ever be able to return. I am trying to regain some of my former reserve and resilience but so far have not been able to find a regimen that will do so. I am receiving Short Term Disability benefits and will continue through March of this year. I have requested Long Term Disability benefits from an insurance company through which I have had a LTD disability policy for 30 years. I am in the waiting stage to hear from that company.
I look forward to communicating with you all via this form. Best regards to you all.
