I am very glad to be a part of this group and look forward to chatting with you all, and hopefully share some of my own wisdom. I am from Enfield Ct. and have been practicing chiropractic, with an emphasis on fibromyalgia for over 20 years. I am the author of the upcoming bood "Fibromyalgia, new science real hope" Coming out soon. I am not here to promote, but open up a forum share blogs and answer any questions you may have. Thank you

fibrodoc,
Welcome to the forum. It is good of you to join us and maybe you can share a bit of your knowledge or opinion, on what causes fibro, and why it is affecting so many people all over the world. It acts almost like a virus the way it spreads and yet most doctors are clueless and can not offer any ideas to us on it's starting point. Kind of like if I knew what I did to get it I might be able to reverse the process and get better.

Anyways enough of my rambling on. Please read through the different topic sections and feel free to post whereever you like. And thank you for telling us about your book, but no ads or selling on site okay. We will find it if we are interested. :)

Welcome fibrodoc,
I notice that several of us are looking for help finding doctors who specialize in fibromyalgia. Do you know of any website or organization that we could use to find fibro specialists where we live? This would be a great help. Thanks!

Thanks-
As I said i'm not here to promote, only help in any possible way.

As far as sites for local Doctors in your area.

Hi! I see you've practiced chiropractic for many years! I actually have a couple questions about that. In your opinion, do you think chiropractic adjustments help or hinder herniated disc's (in someone's neck)? Could receiving these types of adjustments possibly make someone's disc's worse?
Also, my chiropractor has told me multiple times that my pelvic bone is tilted.. This is due to a car accident where my seat broke in 2 different ways. Is this treated simply by adjustments? Can imaging like x-rays show if it's tilted? How long does it often take to 'un-tilt' it? Lol

What neuroscience tells us is that chiropractic adjustments most certainly can help improve symptoms and reduce future negative effects of a herniated disc. However the disc itself would not be treated directly. All adjustments are attenuated to be appropriate for the condition at hand as are prescription medications and surgical procedures. They all require risk/reward judgment by the physician.
Imaging is always helpful to steer the clinical process and based on your question is very likely to show the "tilt". Chiropractic adjustments are not Magic bullets. The success of the case will frequently require soft tissue considerations, exercise, lifestyle and possibly nutritional interventions. Your chiropractor will consider them all in an effort to achieve 100% restoration.

Thanks for the reply!
To been 2+years since the accident... And my pelvic bone is still 'tilted', my chiropractor told me that there wasn't a way to show it was tilted, it was diagnosed based on what he felt... I was kind of leery of that answer... Lol.
