A few weeks ago I was prescribed Gabapentin to help with sleep. Earlier this week I was taken to the ER for what was thought to be an allergic reaction to the new med. In truth some of my symptoms were caused by the Gabapentin but not the serious ones. While in the ER blood panels were done and come to find out my Blood Sugars were approximately 480. I was pretty shocked considering I've not had Blood Sugar issues in the past. I call my primary care doc at the VA the next day and they say to wait a few weeks for symptoms to subside then come in for fasting blood work. They also made an appointment for me in June, yes JUNE. So two days later I'm back in the ER with a Blood Sugar level of 523 and I feel like I'm about to meet my maker. I was given multiple bags of IV fluids then medications prior to being released with a Blood Sugar level of 288. I was told again to contact the VA immediately to be seen by my primary care doc. I did this and was told they would not be able to see me until next Thursday (the 16th) and not to worry about the nausea, hangover feeling, dizziness, shortness of breath and added fatigue. I started Glucophage yesterday and my Blood Sugar has not dropped below 244 while on this med, in fact most of last night and this morning I've been in the 300's and feeling worse if anything. I guess my question is has anyone else had to battle Diabetes with Fibro and any advice on whether or not I should go back to the ER would be helpful. Thanks.
