Hi,

After various misdiagnosis and 9 years later I still don't know if I have Fibromyalgia.

I saw a doctor who asked me questions about by pain and scored the answers and the result was "inconclusive".

I had blood tests which didn't show much except a slightly low Vit D level and a slightly high blood plasma viscosity.

I have been sent to a Menopause clinic and now am going to try HRT to see if that helps. I am 60 so wasa little apprehensive about trying it.

I am just feeling fed up though as I have had a sinus headache since early September. Pain in the centre of my face, around the side and under the eyes and around the back of my neck. It comes and goes, but it is nearly every day. It wakes me up at night and I am constantly taking paracetamol.

I have seen a doctor (the original one who organised my tests) and she didn't remember me at all, her notes were also incorrect and 2 other medics. I have had a strong nasal spray and strong antibiotic, but they have not worked.

I have no congestion, no nasal drip, no polyps or inflammation that can be seen by looking up the nose. I feel anxious as my father died of an aggressive brain tumour. I have a CT scan in a few weeks.

I just wondered do these symptoms sound familiar to others who have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia?

I have not heard from many people with fibromyalgia that they have sinus problems such as you describe, so I wouldn't say, from what little I know, that it is common among us. I think it is probably a separate issue with you, but take note that this is only my opinion and I am not in any way medically trained, just someone who has been active on this forum for many years.

If you have pain in other areas of your body, along with fatigue and other common symptoms of fibromyalgia, then you may have fibro in addition to whatever it is that is causing your sinus issues. What is going on with that sounds horrible, and I am sorry you are having to deal with that. I have serious sinus issues myself, but not sinus pain unless I have an infection, which is rare for me. When I have had sinus pain it has made my life hell and I can't imagine how terrible it must be to have that every day. You really have my sympathy.

Take care with the NSAIDs, though. Taking them often can lead to serious kidney damage......

Have you been to see an ear/nose/throat doctor for this problem? If not, I strongly recommend you do so.

Thank you for your reply. I have just had a strong course of antibiotics which have made me feel awful. I went to a menopause clinic a few days ago and have been given a rarely used (in this country, due to previous severe endometriosis) HRT treatment. I finished the antibiotics yesterday morning and already feel much better. Apparently, menopause can dry the sinuses and cause pain, for the first time last night I had no headache during the night! I am keeping everything crossed, thank you for your advice.
