I’ve been suffering with chronic pain for over 15 years I have seen numerous professionals and have differing diagnosis. I have been diagnosed with chronic pain syndrome at one hospital and fibromyalgia more recently at another. I am also being treated for psioratic arthritis, IBS and GERD. I thought if i described my symptoms the collective knowledge in this forum might help

My pain started many years ago with a burning sensation just in my feet. I was forever kicking my shoes off with my feet feeling overly hot. But it’s now developed into a constant prickling/burning sensation in my legs and feet. This waxes and wanes and when it’s really bad I can even feel the sensation in my forearms and face. I also get visual disturbances like swirling sand in front of my eyes.

Does anyone on here have these symptoms?

Hello @Richk and welcome to the forum.

The answer to your question is YES, and this is being discussed on this thread:

Hi RichK, yes I have waxing and waning burning/prickly sensations, very discomfiting. Mine started on my inner wrists and seemed to track up the inside of my arm to my shoulders, neck and front of my chest, top of tummy too. I got dermacool from doc but it only relieved some areas for about 1/2 hour. It did eventually creep away the way it had come after a few days but it’s back, and worse, involving my hands and parts of my legs too. I did send away for some high neck, long sleeved cotton tops about 3 sizes too small for me, as it seemed to be clothes rubbing when I moved that annoyed me the most. They did help, where they were quite tight. I guess it’s trying to find a way to minimise skin stimulation OR increase it by way of a massage to divert the nerve stimulation maybe? I have a massage booked for next week so I’ll let you know🤨. Re the visual disturbances, I thought I was going crazy, seeing phantoms in the corner of my eyes. I’ve worked night shift for years, so I’ve seen some unexplainable things. But this was quite regular, hence my worry about insanity. I was quite relieved to hear it could be related to fibromyalgia. Just caught a big dark shadow fly over my large window, thought it was a seagull till I realised the blinds are closed. It only happens a couple of times a day and usually when I’m tired and vision blurry. All the weird symptoms eh?
