Hello everyone, I'm new here. I'm 23 and I have a family history of Fibromyalgia. About two years ago I started experiencing pain in my hands and knuckles, it feels like someone injected acid into my knuckles. Over the last year or so I started experiencing knee pain as well, like a weak, aching/ throbbing feeling. Then most recently the pain seemed to spread to every junction in my body, shoulders, fingers, hips, knees, ankles, and toes especially. It varies between an aching and a burning feeling. All of me feels weak, like my kneecaps are about to slide off or something. I could easily and happily sleep for 10-12 hours per day, I've always had issues with depression and anxiety so that might be associated as well. all I know is that I'm tired of everything hurting no matter what I do. I just want to know what's going on. My doctor seems to be leaning to Fibro, what do you guys think?

Welcome , well until your Dr does some blood tests and rules out everything else I can't say for sure. If all your blood work is fine then yes it does sound like Fibro .

RAs are better at fibro

yes regular docs can diagnose but are not a knowledgeable as RAs

you need to keep notes details times levels days better worse all that stuff is important for a good diagnoses

you need your other problems under control stress anxiety will flair fibro so will depression

also diet dont eat store made premaid crap eat home made dont drink crap loads of pop coffee mainly water

i drink distilled water the better you eat the better you will feel it dont take crazy off the wall nut ball diets

just smart sensible changes will help if the dog wont eat it you probably shouldn't

also it hurts but keep overseeing stretching exercising listen to your body but also challenge and

push it but not real hard if you stop fibro will win and keep you down

and dont take the first opinion it may take 5 or so RAs and docs till you find a good one

i had to leave state before i found help

good luck

also sounds like neruopathy too.

the burning is the nerves or could be the muscles. you can tell the difference between the two burning feelings.

get with the RA.

work the muscles and do the breathing and tapping exercises too.

set your sleep schedule and do not sleep on and off for 10-12 hours. its making the problems worse by doing that.

may you have many low pain days ahead of you.

Read the post Grouchy said and start it right away please.

Thanks for the encouragement. My GP really is good, he gave me a referral to an RA and I have an appointment set up...for February. I've had blood taken about three times now and they don't see anything else. We're trying cymbalta now until I can get in with an RA.

do your research on any of the drugs you get to make sure you are ok with the side effects. vision loss is one of them.(starts with blurry vision)

if he doesnt know if its fibro. why did he say he was starting you on cymbalta?

ask questions, dont just take a med because a doctor that knows nothing about meds gaves you a prescription.

your young and need to know what you are putting in your body.

I agree. I'm very careful about things like that, I'm very familiar with SSRIs and SNRIs I've done a lot of research on the kinds of medications that he would try to put me on. I spent my adolescence on SSRIs with minimal side effects. At this point if this gives me a chance to stop hurting I'll take it especially given that other anti inflamatories haven't touched it. I have my bachelors in psychology with a heavy emphasis on physiology and psychopharmacology so that's one area that i'm reasonably okay with. I won't be taking any other kind of medication until I get an opinion from a specialist.
