Has any one tried PEA . My chemist recommended it and my GP is happy, also on mega dose magnesium and fish oil. I have done a lot of research about PEA . I will try anything at the moment as it seems much better than the bigger meds I am on and their side effects. These are some of the benefits I have found. I tick 4 of those so desperately hoping they help. Keen to hear what you think or if you’ve tried it.

What is PEA?
I cannot for the life of me pronounce it, Palmitoylethanolamide , it’s a fatty acid and lipid modulator.
I am praying 🙏 it helps something relax. I am struggling so much with this pain, been back to gp. She has upped a few meds and have done another blood test.

@Harpy well that is not one I have taken. I do take several anti-inflammatory supplements and neuroprotective as well. I am interested to hear about your experience with PEA after you have been using it for a month or two, or sooner if you observe any significant benefits.

Funnily enough my daughter sent me a link about PEA 2 years ago and I totally forgot about it . My daughter is wonderful and can sense everything I am going through .
I definitely will keep you up to date if it helps .

Is it prescribed by doctor or can be bought OTC? I've never heard of PEA but you have my attention...

Your search engine is your friend with things like this. I found quite a bit about it online by simply using a search function online. Best to do your research on it, because like everything else it has its downsides.

Carolyn, You can order it through a chemist or buy online. I got mine online. Reasonably cheap considering other vitamins.

I spent some time yesterday reading studies on PEA published by our National Institutes of Health and was very intrigued.

I made a note to myself to continue researching this, checking for interactions (I don't think I'm likely to find any), and will probably give it a try once I have finished one short-term supplement and one short-term prescription I am taking.

Considering the pretty remarkable outcomes of studies, as well as the many positive aspects of PEA I am surprised I have not heard of PEA prior to this post. I also learned that this is a naturally occurring and seemingly essential component involved in many significant aspects of body function. Of particular interest to me is it anti-nociceptive properties.

It also has a high safety profile and I would really like to give it a shot. It'll be several months though before I will be able to do so.

@JamieMarc if you do decide to try PEA I would love it if you posted your experience with it here. I am sure others would also be interested. :)

That’s it JamieMarc I couldn’t find
Anything negative . I havent noticed anything yet , though I know I am still in the early days. Though one plus so far I have stopped my morning lryica 75mg . I have had no side effects of doing that . Got to be a plus 🙂

@sunkacola

I will probably try it but most likely not for another month or two when I will stop taking one prescription med and one supplement. And I will definitely share my experience, although I did read in my further research today that it can take three to four months to feel any beneficial effects.

I also remember reading in my research today that PEA may not be effective or as effective on severe pain as on moderate pain. I really don't know if that's relevant. It's certainly not going to stop me from trying it after everything I have read so far. By now I have read four papers about it published by the NIH. All of them promising.

I will let you know when I begin taking it and then later down the road my experience with it.
