Visit with physical therapist

Hi, had my first appointment with the physical therapist to rehab my left knee and hopefully get rid of the pain. My therapist, Nikki, was wonderful and actually told me that my own diagnosis of IT band syndrome was probably right on target. The IT band runs from your hip to your knee and narrows significantly at your knee. When it is inflamed, the motion going over bone in your knee becomes very painful.

The therapist told me I should have had PT after my knee surgery in late June to stabilize and strengthen all the ligaments and muscles. My beginning walking on the treadmill at the gym in early September was just too much for my still healing meniscus.

So she has given me some exercises to do at home and told me to ice right now instead of using heat on the painful area. I have two appointments scheduled next week and hopefully will be on the road to being out of knee pain.

If only fibro was something we could fix with physical therapy. Yesterday afternoon I put down 7 bags of mulch in my front garden bed with an ice brace on my knee and being very careful and slow in all my movements. I took a hot mineral soak bath after I finished and don't feel too horrid this morning for doing that little task.

Everyone had a wonderful Halloween...looking forward to seeing the little pumpkins that come to my door tonight...the babies are so cute!
